February 16, 2006
Protest by INLD “CHETAAWANI DIWAS” observed.
Sirsa, February 15 Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner here today for submission to the Haryana Governor in favor of its demand of restoring the name of Panipat thermal power station and IMT, Manesar after former Deputy Prime Minister Mr Devi Lal. Scores of workers and supporters of INLD from Sirsa City as well as from villages assembled and took a huge procession through City Bazars before reaching the DC office to submit the memorandum. The INLD leaders said that Ch. Devi Lal was a great freedom fighter, and Messiah of Farmers, an inspiration to people of Haryana; hence his name should not be removed from the above Thermal and Institute.
Later Mr Ajay Singh Chautala said in Delhi to a television interview that the issue of renaming of these two establishments will be raised in the Parliament in Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha may be on the very first day of the Parliament session he further added that like-minded parties [Telgu Desam party etc.] will support this issue. Mr Ajay Chautala said that on 22nd Febrauary a meeting of the party executives would be held to discuss this matter.

However BJP is no mood to support INLD on this issue, Mr. Sangwan the BJP MP from Haryana rhymed his words with what other Haryana Congress leaders are saying in defense. He said that the INLD was only exploiting the name of Ch Devi Lal to promote its political agenda.
