Hail storm and rain make havoc
Details:
March 26, 2006
Hail Storm and rain make havoc. Yesterday’s high temperature was murmured as a storm warning by many a people in gray beard. The speculation came true when suddenly in the evening rain with thundershowers at around 8PM changed into hailstorm. As you can see in the KALPANA-1 satellite pictures taken of skies over North India at about 10PM. The causative seems to be turbulence over North region.
The rain and the hails were not cheered by anyone, as they were havoc for all kinds of standing crops vegetables as well orchards. Especially the Mustard Crop ready for thrashing got damp hence delaying the thrashing on start. The wheat crop that earlier also got a cruel treatment from vagaries of weather got another bad blow. However from preliminary reports the hailstorms were not wide spread. The city SIRSA perhaps had the maximum of it.
Wheat Farmers are advised not to water their standing wheat crop till the weather clears up.

His son had Down’s syndrome (A congenital disorder caused by having an extra 21st chromosome; which might result in a flat face, elongated fingers and some times a short stature and mental retardation) He did every possible effort, and extended all possible help to his helpless son, but all in vain until he came in contact with the SHRAVAN Center Gandhi Nagar ROHTAK. Holi Ke Rang

Holi Ke Rang

March 15, 2006

Unfazed by the cold weather in the morning due to the rains that stopped last night only, Holi was celebrated in Full Color. In the city there was a division in celebration of Holi but the holi with a purpose and Holi played for pure fun for the sake of Holi only. Holi with a purpose was more like appeasing politicians and people who matter by the people who want to matter! And of course the Neo Rich of the district joined this class who had made quick bucks from the recent property boom.

However Sirsa_News shall only focus on the real Holi being played on streets by one and all.

The pictures below speak for them self hence no further narration.

More Pictures shall be there as soon as Sirsa Internet becomes strong enough.

At the end you may like to read the legends related to Holi.
Legends of Holi
Holi is also associated with the immortal love of Krishna and Radha. According to the Hindu belief, Krishna was a reincarnation of lord Vishnu himself. It was Krishna, or, Krishn, the king of the ancient city of Dwarka, who popularised the tradition of Holi. The origin of the colourful and frolicking tone of Holi lies in the boyhood of Krishna. It all came up as part of his pranks; he used to play with his boyhood mates of Gokul and Vrindavan. Situated in north India, these are the places where he spent his childhood. It was at this time of year, Krishna used to play pranks by drenching the village girls, with water and colours. At first it offended the girls. But they were so fond of this mischievous boy that soon their anger melted away. And, it did not take long for other boys to join in, making it a popular sport in the village. Later, as Krishna grew up, the play assumed a new dimension.
It added more colours to Krishna's legendary love life. The legend of Krishna's courtship with Radha and playing pranks with the 'Gopi's. The girls in the 'dairy' village of Gokul were mostly milkmaids, and, hence locally known as the Gopis. The same tradition has transpired through the ages, turning it into a community festival of the masses. As time kept flowing, the culture spread roots to other regions of the country. The Holi play of Krishna is documented in hundreds of ancient paintings, murals, sculptures and scriptures found across the subcontinent. · Holi is also associated with the immortal love of Krishna and Radha. Holi was also the day when Kama, the God of Love disturbed Lord Shiva's meditation and was burnt down by Shiva. An effigy of Kama is burnt in some parts of India on the day of the Holi festival.
Holi was also the name of a female demon Putana who tried to kill boy Krishna, by giving him her poisoned nipples to suckle. The miracle boy Krishna is said to have sucked so intensely that he drained the demon of her life. Hence the biggest celebration of Holi takes place at Mathura.
Hola Mohalla
Holi gets this joyful name in the state of Punjab. The festival is celebrated in an entirely different manner, it's meaning and significance also shifts a little here.
Hola Mohalla is actually an annual fair that is organised in a large scale at Anandpur Sahib in Punjab on the day following the festival of Holi. Practise of holding a fair of this kind was initiated by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru. Purpose of the fair was to physically strengthen the Sikh community by holding military exercises and mock battles.
The festival is celebrated for three consecutive days, in which members of Sikh community display their physical strength by performing dare-devil acts like bareback horse-riding, standing erect on two speeding horses, Gatka (mock encounters), tent pegging etc. This is followed by music and poetry competition to lighten the charged up atmosphere.

Rain Rain Go Away

Mixed Bag of Joy & Sorrow.
The rains that started last week were stated to be useful to the late sown varieties of wheat thus benefiting majority of farmers in Sirsa more so as the district was facing power shortage through out winter. But even the first few showers of last week, flattened the best of wheat crop that is the early sown varieties. The wheat was already facing the brunt of unusual February high temperature. A soft drizzle was welcome as it cooled the High March temperatures, but the drizzle followed by wind flattened the high yielding varieties.Even tonight it was thunders all night with showers all over the district at different time. Farmers also fear a possible hailstorm, as it is a phenomenon that occurs more often with March rains.
