The left parties convened a convention to discuss the consequences of the Nuclear Deal at Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Hall, Sirsa, before that addressing a press conference jointly, the CPI & CPM leaders said that the Left was convincingly against the N-deal and the Left believes that this deal shall cripple the sovereignty of India’s foreign policy and shall make India a puppet at the hands of the USA.

Mr. Swarn Singh Wirk, executive member Haryana State Committee, CPI and Mr. Krishan Swarup Gorakhpuria, executive member Haryana State Committee, CPM said that by signing the deal India is doing no good to India and is instead facilitating the USA to abet Americas vicious defense strategies for South Asia. The Government is trying to camouflage its shortcomings with a deceptive but sweet looking cover of N-Deal, Mr. Wirk alleged. The so called big and instant advantage of the Nuclear power is also untrue as even if this deal comes through, it can append only about 9% of additional power and that too not before year 2021.

When quizzed about that as Thermal Power and Big Hydro Electric Dams are already being opposed by environmentalist, and the coal supply is already on the countdown to be exhausted soon, how can India augment its ever increasing demand for power, Mr. Swarn Singh Wirk said that alternate forms of energy like power form tidal waves is a viable answer and moreover India has its own Uranium and Thorium in abundance with which it can run Nuclear Power Plants.

Sirsa NEWS also highlighted that Australia has made a clear NO to India for any supply of N-Fuel for even peaceful purposes unless India signs NPT.

The left shall observe a Bharat Bandh on August 20th against the Government’s move to make this deal operational.

Distt General Secretaries Jai Chand Saharni, Mr Raj Kumar, Mr Roshan Lal Suchan, Dr Sukhdev Singh Jammu, Jarnail Singh Brar. Jaswant Singh Josh, Dr. Gurmukh Singh, Rajender Kumar, Comrade Avtar Singh, Gurdeep Singh, & several workers and leaders of both the Left parties were present.
