At a press conference held at IMA house yesterday, IMA - PPA members and office bearers absolved Dr GS Gupta of charges of any medical carelessness or negligence in the case of death of 6 years old Richa (Rizaa) D/o Mr. Pawan Monga (R/o Fatehabad) who was under treatment at Sigma Hospital of Dr GS Gupta near Tau Devi Lal Town Park Sirsa. In a joint statement the doctors said that the possible cause of the death could be aspiration in this case, but the whole picture shall be clear only after the postmortem and viscera exam reports come up. The IMA office bearers also said that if the report is against the Doctor, the Association in no case shall stand behind the erring doctor. Addressing the media persons Dr. CP Dadhich said that it is a matter of concern that the Doctor patient relationship have been increasingly severing since last decade or so. Dr. Ved Beniwal said that with the increasing litigations and strained relations between the doctors and the patients and their kin, it shall become very difficult to take vital decisions which are necessary for life saving of the patients, as in the possibility of disputes, only the patient is going to suffer. However the relief from the decision of Apex Court of keeping Doctors out of the purview of Consumer Redressal Forum shall prove to be a great relief and doctors can be doing what is appropriate for the patient with greater confidence. Dr Ashish Khurana, Dr. Ashok Parik, Dr SP Garg, Dr MR Bansal, Dr. Ankush Mehta, Dr. Sanjeev Goel, Dr Viresh Bhushan, Dr. Maheep Bansal, Dr Suresh Gupta etc. were present at the conference.
The PPA members shall also very soon install CCTV cameras in their private clinics to monitor and record activities at the clinics, the recorded footage shall be saved for at least one month. This might be a deterrent to unruly scenes at the clinics and shall also be safety measure for the life and property of the hospital and also to belongings of the patients and their attendants.

Before this on 07.04.2009 Richa(6) died at Sigma Hospital, the parents relatives and attendants of the deceased girl alleged that the girl died due to administration of wrong medicines and negligence on the part of Dr GS Gupta, enraged by this they ransacked the hospital (Sigma Hospital) causing damage to some furniture and other property etc. The kin of the deceased also filed a Criminal Complaint against the Doctor at the City Police station Sirsa. SHO City Mr. Ajay Sharma has confirmed the lodging of FIR and is investigating into the criminal charges.
