Rahul Gandhi, the Gen Secretary of the AICC while addressing a mammoth Congress rally here today, reiterated that the Congress party is wedded to ensure the progress and development of all sections of society without any discrimination of caste creed or religion and especially poor and down trodden sections of society, including farmers and toiling masses. Mr. Gandhi who had come here to appeal to the people to vote for congress nominee, Ashok Tanwar from Sirsa parliamentary constituency during his speech took pot shots on opposition especially the BJP for accusing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a weak Prime Minister. He said that it was the same ‘weak’ Prime Minister who compelled Pakistan to openly confess categorically that the perpetrators of the terrorists act in Bombay last year belonged to Pakistan. He further added that it was due to Manmohan Singh’s diplomatic strategy that Pakistan was fully exposed before the world, that it was harboring and outsourcing terrorism and was a potent danger to the entire world. He said that it was during the so called mighty and powerful Deputy Prime Ministership of Lal Krishan Advani’s tenure that the country faced unprecedented humiliation when his foreign minister Jaswant Singh himself escorted the most dreaded terrorist to release him in a foreign land. While the BJP to task for accusing Congress of weakness in dealing with the menace of terrorism he said that during NDA’s regime it was parliament, Akshardham and Red Fort which were targeted by terrorists. He said that every vote for the Congress would be a vote for the common man’s progress.
In his speech Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda enumerated the developments and progress made during four and half years of Congress ruke in the state as well during the five years rule of UPA led Congress government at the center. He said that it is due to Mr. Rahul Gandhi that the country’s youth is being empowered to steer clear the ship of India’s destiny which is evident that the Congress party has given tickets to over twenty to contest the ongoing parliamentary elections. Prominent amongst others who also spoke were: Phool Chand Mullana president HPCC, Prithviraj Chauhan Haryana incharge of Congress affairs, Doora Ram parliamentary secretary, Ashok Tanwar, and Haryana Industries Minister LD Arora.
