A delegation of farmers who have been served land acquisition orders presented a memorandum to CM Haryana on his recent visit to SIRSA demanding cancelation of acquisition orders. The delegation was led by Mr. Soham Parkash Sethi, S Puran Singh Sandhu, S. Mahender Singh S. Iqbal Singh etc met Sh BS Hooda CM Haryana at the residence of Sh Bhagirath Gupta Advocate. The aggrieved farmers urged the CM to intervene and facilitate the cancelation of this undemocratic order, which will ruin the affected farmers in more than one way. (Copy of the memorandum in Hindi attached as Photo File at the end of this News Post.)

Before this, the Samiti held a press conference at local Laxmi Sweets banquet hall to apprise the press to raise their reasonable demand before the Government. At the Press Conference S. Puran Singh Sandhu exhibited NEWS reports of an order of quashing of acquisition order by state government by high-court of Madhya Pardesh, the appeal to SCI against the same order by the state Government was also set aside by a bench of Honorable Supreme Court of India in a similar land-acquisition case. “The Government cannot acquire land of poor farmers unless there is dire necessity to do so, but in this case there is neither necessity nor any urgency as the previously developed HUDA sectors have hundreds of plots still lying vacant.” lamented S. Puran Singh.

The compensation to be offered by Govt against acquisition shall be mere Rs200/- per sq. yard while the HUDA department shall be selling it for more than several thousand rupees per square yard, thus making huge profits in the name of public welfare, added Mr. Sethi. Mr. Mahinder Singh, secretary of the Samiti said that the acquisition of approximately 350 acres of fertile land shall not only dwindle land under plough but shall also affect 450 families, 12000 people, the slapping of section 4 and section 6 under the Land Acquisition act, should be removed by the Government in retrospect.

CM Haryana, Mr. BS Hooda assured the delegation that he shall look into the matter compassionately.
