Three- Day Annual Youth
Festival of CDLU at JCD (PG) College of Education was inaugurated
with great joy here at
JCD (PG) College of Education on 17th November. Different
Colleges of Chaudhary Devilal University participated actively in its
three-day mega literary celebration of Annual Youth Festival from 17th
to 19th November. During this, the features of attraction were Literary
Events, Quiz Competition and Fine Arts Events. Hundreds of skilful students
participated in different competitions related to Literary and Fine Arts
contexts; whereas, more than 2000 others witnessed and encouraged their
performances. The Chief Guest on day one, Dr. Chander Trikha, Ex Director,
Haryana Sahitya Academy inaugurated the Festival by lighting of the lamp. On
this occasion, the Chief Guest said: "Such festivals are organized for
entertainment as well as to enhance knowledge and mutual understanding among
the students." Congratulating all organizers and participants of the
festival, who have prepared very well to their capacity and ability, he further
said: "I am very happy to note special excitement among students. The way
they have toiled day and night is really going to pave their way to successful
future. I wish all of them a grand success in all of their endeavors."
The function was presided
over by Dr. Madhuri Mehta, famous ENT Specialist and Painter, Jindal Hospital,
Hisar. She said “I am a Doctor by profession but Painting is my first love.
Whenever I got time I indulge myself in painting.” An exhibition of Dr. Madhuri
Mehta and Mr. Manoj Chhabra’s paintings were also inaugurated on this occasion.
Sandeep Joshi, well known Cartoonist was the Guest of Honor and he said,
“Contribution of cartoonists in present day society is valuable. They give a
truthful commentary of what is happening in society. I think they depict the
situations in all hues and shades. This kind of public scrutiny is very much
necessary for democracy” Mr. R M Singh, well-known artist was the special guest
and along with him Ms. Martin, a famous poetess and painter from France was
also present in the function. R M Singh is a rare artist: gifted with the brush
and blessed with deep sensitivity is among few painters of India who bring
laurels for the country. He also shared some tips with the students in the
workshop and enhanced their knowledge about the art of
painting. The Managing
Director, Dr. Shamim Sharma welcomed the students, the
principals and teachers
of various institutions taking part in the Youth festival. Laying stress on the
importance of extracurricular activities she said, “Unless one is happy and
healthy, one cannot
perform well in studies.
It is necessary to take a break and get rejuvenated to perform better
academically”. She asked the students to strive for a healthy competition. The
Managing Director thanked Vice Chancellor Dr. K.C. Bhardwaj for giving an
opportunity to conduct Youth Festival here at JCD Vidyapeeth. She also
congratulated Dr. Jai Prakash, Principal JCD College of education and his team
for organizing the festival. The competitions in this festival were held at the
Education
Auditorium in B.Ed
College. The competitions during the day one included Symposium, Debate,
Declamation in Sanskrit, Poster making, Painting and cartooning to name a few.
The participants got an opportunity to show their creative side and also got a
chance to interact with one another.
