In Ellenabad Effigy of Ravana is not burnt since almost last 50 years.
Interestingly in Ellenabad a township and Sub division of Sirsa, the effigy of Ravana is not burnt since almost last 50 years barring a few attempts and that too at a very low scale. The breaking of this tradition was probably linked to bringing ill fate if the effigies of Ravana and Meghnaad were burnt, but now the newer generations are also in favour of not burning of the effigies in the name of protecting the environment from smoke and noise pollution. This new found love for environment in new generation has the same insecurity of historical bad luck linked to it. Rationalists say that it is good to not to burn the effigies whatever may be the reasons behind it. Now only the symbolic Ravana Wadh is enacted in Ramlila on the eve of Vijayadashmi.
