GS Mann shall be a
panelist in the session “Acceptance of transgenic crops - Farm economics and
sustainable livelihood” at the 3rd international
seminar- Global
Biosafety Management Program. (GBMP) to be organised by
college of Agriculture and Life Sciences of Cornell University, New York, USA
to be held in Hyderabad from 21st to 23rd January.
About the Program:
“Global Biosafety Management Program (GBMP): Approach to Product
Development and Regulation” This program
will provide biotechnology researchers, regulators, policy planners from the
environment, agriculture & food sectors, farm management service providers
and communication and outreach specialist a broad exposure to the following:
- · Emerging technological platforms in the field of biotechnological crop development and approach to their regulation.
- · Essentials of regulatory framework of different nations and evolving policies.
- · Essentials of developing a robust regulatory dossier and regulatory assessment mechanism for transgenic crop development, commercialization and GM foods.
- · Addressing Food Safety and environmental risk assessments issues in transgenic crops.
- · Addressing concerns on Bio-property and Bio-piracy.
- · Innovation, awareness, informed decision making and acceptance of transgenic crops
This program will bring together mid and senior level professionals
from public and private institutes of India, USA, Europe, Bangladesh,
Indonesia, the Philippines and African countries. This program will be
beneficial for understanding the various aspects of safety assessment of
transgenic product development and its commercialization with specific focus on
regulatory compliances.
