Shivratri Celebration at Ancient Shiv Mandir
February 26, 2006
Shivratri Celebrations at Pracheen Shiv Mandir
Shivratri was celebrated in SIRSA with gaiety in SIRSA in various Mandirs and Kutias, Prominent being The Shiv Mandir at Multani Colony, Baba Tara Charitable Trust, Durga Mandir B- Block etc. Popular film singers like Anuradha Paudwal and Music diretor Ravinder Jain were hired, free arrangements were made for travel to & fro and large hoardings were put up all over the district to woo devotees to one of these religious places.
But on the other hand Sirsa_News is highlighting a little known mandir which has the heritage of being more than 130 years old. The Pracheen Shiv Mandir is located in side the Gaushala on the Rangree Road. This Mandir is a small structure see picture. The uniqueness of this Mnadir is that it does not even have a place for the pujari to sit inside it and there is no ‘Daan-patra’ installed anywhere to collect monetary offerings. While all religious places have the ‘Dan Patra’ prominently placed in a highlighted area.
According to the caretaker of the this shrine Pt. Sushil Sharma, people who come over here with clean heart get the blessings of Bhagwan Shiv almost instantaneously.Shivratri was celebrated here with simplicity, even loudspeakers were not put up, but a good langar was provided to the visitors all through the day. Devotees whose wishes come fulfilled mostly do the langar sewa. No collections are made from people in the name of mandir at all. Pt Sushil Sharma requests a person who insists of offering donations. that better offer the donations to the neighboring Gaushala for the benefit of the cows
