The 20th July visit of Sh ML Khattar and Nitin Gadkari announced a wide array of sops for Sirsa and surrounding areas.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Mr. Nitin Gadkari today announced that road projects worth Rs 25,000 crore would be executed in Haryana by the end of December this year. He also announced to start rope-way transport system between Dhaula Kuan to Mansesar via Gurgaon in coming four months. Estimated per km cost of this project would be only Rs 50 crore as compared to Rs350 crore per kilometer of Metro. Based on new technology, it would help in decongestion of traffic and facilitate the people of Haryana and Delhi.
The program was held at CDLU Campus Sirsa.
Mr. Gadkari announced this after laying the foundation stone of four laning of Hisar-Dabwali road project costing over Rs 1500 crore in the presence of Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal at Sirsa today. He said that road projects worth Rs.16,000 crore had already been started in the state.
The Union Minister also announced 150 km four lane National Highway project from Hisar to Bathinda via Adampur, Fatehabad, Ratia, Mansa. It would be made of cement concrete. He said that Express highway from Delhi to Katra via Ludhiana and Amritsar would also be constructed.
Describing industries, agriculture and service sector as three important components for development of nation, he said that service sector contributes 62-64 per cent in GDP whereas industry and agriculture contributes 22-24 per cent and 14-16 per cent respectively. He said that former Prime Ministers of Congress party had given slogan ‘Garibi Hatao’ but unfortunately this was not achieved. Even after the 68 years of independence, why we are seeking any scheme of drinking, power, irrigation etc., he questioned and added that we are a rich nation with poor population. Wrong economic policies, bad and corrupt governance and visionless leadership are responsible for this mess.
He said that credit for connecting 1.7 lakh villages out of total 6.5 lakh in the country goes to our former Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said that Minister of Road Transport and Highways would strengthen the infrastructure under the able guidance of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi. His Ministry would give employment of 50 lakh youth in five years. The department under his portfolio had started development works to the tune of Rs one lakh crore and this pace would be continue in future. In coming five years, we will execute projects worth Rs five lakh crore, he added.
Referring to the menace of corruption prevailing in RTO offices, he urged the Chief Minister to look into this and keep a tap on the same. He also offered the Chief Minister such kind of 200 driving schools where computer based test would be conducted for getting driving licenses. He said that there would be no dearth of funds for development work in Haryana. Contract had been made with Cement factories to get rid of heavy cost of cement. Under this contract, per bag cement would cost between Rs 120 and 140. He also offered the State Government to take benefit from Union Government for undertaking their development projects. 6
He also offered the Chief Minister to explore possibilities for executing Water port or river port as this mode of transport is cheaper than road and railways.  The Central Government is in the process to draft a scheme under which industries would be set on in the villages having populations more than 10,000.
He also urged the gathering to adopt alternate system of agriculture other than traditional. India import crude oil worth Rs 8 lakh crore which badly impacted our economy. We would have to adopt alternate mode like bio-diesel, ethanol and bio-electric. Farmers could also generate such kind of alternate mode by using techno support so that rural India could be strengthened.
|Speaking on this occasion Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal thanked the Union Minister for giving three important projects worth Rs 3500 crore in a single day. He said the previous government during their 10 year rule had announced only one National Highway but the present Central Govt had given 10 such highways in their one year and two months time. Five crore each to all five assemblies of the district for development purposes. He informed that a special purpose vehicle (SPV) is being made between State government and Railways for ROBs and RuBs to be constructed in the state.  This would avoid unnecessary delay in executing these works.
On being asked to comment on SYL canal, he said that government is serious in this direction. A reference for the same was pending for last 10 years in Supreme Court. The present government had taken initiative for its completion and requested the court for early hearing.
In reply to a query, he said that VAT on diesel was increased for maintaining uniformity among neighbouring states. Four states had increased VAT on diesel including Haryana, Punjab, HP and Delhi. This ha6d no practical impact on consumers as the same was also reduced by Rs2 by the oil companies.
He said that state government had adopted zero tolerance policy towards corruption. The excise duty which was Rs3300 crore during last year had now been Rs 4500 crore with the e-auction process adopted by the State Government.
