He stood for the integrity of India and social equity. He said that I pay homage to a noble soul and a great son of India who served the cause of his beliefs to the last days of his life. He remembered Chaudhary Devilal and said that he still cherish his friendship with him. The museum houses a rare collection of Photographs, Watch, Spectacles, Books, Furniture, Footwear, Wallet, Utensils, VCR, Gramophone and Clothes etc.  associated with Chaudhary Devi Lal.  Later on a Cultural Evening was also organized in the auditorium of JCDV. Hundreds of people were present at JCDV to pay their homage to the great leader.

The Program had commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest with a floral welcome to them. After the floral welcome, the lamp was lit, followed by the Saraswati Vandana by the students of The Sirsa School. After this a special choreography from the students of Pharmacy College was presented portraying the life of today’s youth. It held the audience enthralled with surcharged dancing and emotions. This was followed by an enactment by Sh. Daryav Singh Malik, actor of Haryanvi Film, ‘Runda’ of film ‘Chandrawal’.
Subsequently a Haryanvi Skit from JCD Memorial College was staged on the burning issue of Female Foeticide emphasized the need for spreading awareness against female foeticide to restore gender balance.  Girls from JCDM College of Engineering performed Giddha and it was an absolute eye catching event. Bolis were lyrically sung and danced by girls. These boliyan covered a variety of themes such as excesses committed by husbands and mother-in-laws. The exuberance and vitality of the people of Punjab are vigorously displayed in this dance form. Later on Hari Singh Dilbar, a renowned Punjabi poet recited ranged widely in themes, from patriotic fervor to personal relationships and social issues, from focusing on maternal love to denouncing the corrupt politics prevailing in the country. Poet took his turn to recite his compositions even as the huge crowd assembled at the venue responded with a thunderous applause.
This then was followed by a song ‘Akhiya nu rahn de akhiyan de kol kol’ sung by Dental College student Sachin which was absolutely awesome. Then the spectators were thrilled by the most awaited performance by students of management ‘Bhangra’. It represented the liveliness and dynamism of people of Punjab. The dance mainly involves boys, who performed to the fast beats of drum and music. The Vidyapeeth administration announced a cash prize of rupees 1100/- for the outstanding performance of fourth class employees in their respective fields. Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest to the deserving participants who took part in the function.
At the end, Dr. Anoop Lather, Chief Guest, highlighted the importance of the cultural activities and exhorted the students to take part in these activities as participation in them is a must for the all round development of the personality. He also laid emphasis on the importance of discipline, commitment and positive attitude. He encouraged the students with his words of wisdom and blessings and asked them to tread on the path shown by Chaudhary Devilal and become a true INDIAN. Mr. Dushyant Singh Chautala said that we do no favour when we acknowledge Chaudhary Devi Lal as the Jan Nayak and the sobriquet ‘Tau’ has been truly earned by him over the long decades of public service. Dr. Shamim Sharma welcomed the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests and in her address she said that the welfare of people was a mission with Chaudhary Devil Lal, and he strove hard to see the peoples’ power reflected in the peoples’ rule.
At last vote of thanks was delivered by the Program coordinator Dr. Kuldeep Singh. He said an event of this magnitude requires detailed planning months in advance. It also requires meticulous execution that leaves nothing to chance. He thanked the organizers particularly staff members of JCD Vidyapeeth for making this program a resounding success.

Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev – strange bed fellows!

Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev – strange bed fellows!

Anna  Hazare and Baba Ramdev – strange bed fellows! ---An Article by  RD Singh

“Don’t use my name and photo”, Anna tells Arvind Kejriwal, breaking away from his decision to launch a political party, in a meeting held at Delhi on 19 September. Now Arvind will go the political way while Anna will take the movement route. End of 18 months of honeymoon, but good that Anna has taken the route of his heart.
But what is intriguing is Anna immediately thereafter having a meeting with Baba Ramdev, along with Gen (retd.) V.K. Singh.  They make strange bed fellows.  Baba Ramdev’s links with the RSS and BJP are well known, and he drew his strength at the Ramlila Maidan on 13 August with the presence of Nitin Gadkari and other NDA leaders on the stage. Under the banner of Bharat Swabhiman Andolan, mustering volunteers while performing yoga camps, Baba Ramdev is aiming at 2014 elections.
Anna Hazare draws his strength from his self less cause – to remove corruption from the country and work for the poor. He has no personal agenda or assets. His simple life of dedication to the good of the rural people, following Gandhian principles, places him on a moral high ground and a higher pedestal than others. Then, how can he continue/combine the movement with Baba Ramdev who is under scanner for tax evasions of hundreds of crores, and his primary aid Bala Krishan is charged with fraud, spending a month in jail. It is a case of a round peg in a square hole.
In case Anna shares the stage with political leaders, because of Baba Ramdev, then he will lose his moral ascendancy, and it will be no more shining white. The strength of his movement against corruption will also get weakened the moment if gets politically involved.
The best course for Anna is to go alone, with his genuine workers, who are committed to work selflessly for removal of corruption. The movement should be taken to each village, and the poorest man should know what Anna is doing for him. He/she should be so motivated that the next time a candidate comes to offer him bribe for his vote, he should refuse. It is here that he can help Kejriwal to make honest candidates win. As the aim is same – good and clean governance – Arvind Kejriwal’s party should continue drawing its strength from the people’s movement against corruption.
Anna’s movement to succeed has to strike the goodness in each citizen, so that people across the country, support the cause and pressurise the govt for the necessary action – in this case passing of an effective and workable Lokpal bill, and initiating concrete steps to curb corruption from top to bottom.  Such a movement should not be confrontationist, anti govt, or anti democratic institutions. It is a people’s movement, non-violent and apolitical, aimed for the good of the nation. Each one of us can contribute to its success by being honest to ourselves.
May Anna and his people’s movement unite the nation for a noble cause.
