Mela Baba Bhuman Shah was celebrated with large number of devotees attending from all regions with great religious fervor today at village Sangar Sadhaan near Sirsa. Ashok Tanwar, MP Sirsa, Abhay Singh Chautala INLD, Bharat Singh Beniwal Congress, and several other leaders of various political parties also visited the religious Mela.

About Baba Bhuman Shah:

Baba Bhumman Shah, (born Bhumia Hassa) is counted among the top Udasi saints of India. He was born on April 14, 1687 CE at Behlolpur village , Deepalpur Tehsil, Montgomery District, Punjab (Pakistan), in a family reportedly coming of Kamboj lineage. His father Chaudhury Hassa Ram was a Numbardar and a well-known landlord of Behlolpur. Hassa Ram and his wife Mata Rajo Bai were known to be deeply religious and devotees of Guru Nanak as well as of Baba Sri Chand, the founder of the Udasi Panth. There are several legends and myths connected with Bhumia's early childhood. The story goes that once as a kid, when he was sleeping in his cradle, a cobra came and sat over his chest with his hood spread wide-apart. Mother Rajo was stunned at the scene but as she dared to approach the cradle, the cobra disappeared slowly with no harm to the sleeping kid. Another myth relates to the revival of the dead sparrows; and yet another one deals with restoring to health the lost crops of a poor farmer......so forth and so on. These were taken to be miracles and the peoples from far and wide started to crowd at Bhumia house to have his darshan.

Bhumia went for his schooling at the age of seven. He was very sharp and intelligent student and imbibed the essentials of Hinduism, Sikhism and Islam at a very young age. Besides attending to his religious lessons, Bhumia also performed the worldly chores like grazing cows in the company of other boys of his village. He would take his cows to the forest where he would also carry plenty of food and Jal (water) to run a free-kitchen (Langar) for the passers-by including the ascetics, saints, the poor and the orphans.

Little later, the family would move from Behlolpur to Deepalpur. By the age of fifteen, Bhumia had developed a strong aspiration to become a monk. With the permission of his parents he approached Baba Pritam Das of Pakpattan, the prominent Saint of Udasin Panth who initiated him into a Guru-mantra. On being formally initiated and baptized by Baba Pritam Dass, Bhumia himself became Baba Bhumman Shah. Soon afterwards, he started to preach the religious messages which were always accompanied by Kirtan and free-kitchen (Langar).

It is stated that Chaudhury Lakha Wattu, a Muslim landlord of village Kutub Kot had been arrested for some reasons and was put behind the bars at Lahore by the orders of the Governor of Punjab. Bibi Bakhtawar, Lakha's mother, was a staunch devotee of the Baba. She solicited Baba's blessings for the release of her son and it so happened that Chaudhury Lakha was released from the jail within couple of days. As a result, Lakha and his numerous Muslim relatives from the Wattu tribe also became devoted followers of the Baba. In addition, the tribe also surrendered a village named Kutub-Kot to the Baba which the latter made the centre of his religious activities. Baba Bhumman Shah travelled from village to village to preach his message of love, peaceful coexistence, universal brotherhood, religious-tolerance and equality. He had followers from many denominations including Hindus, Sikhs and Muslems.

Baba also visited the Dargah of Sufi Saint Baba Farid, Golden Temple at Amritsar, and numerous other Sikh and Hindu shrines during his religious itineraries. At village Kutub-Kot, which later became renowned as Dera Baba Bhumman Shah, Baba permanently established the maryada of Kirtan and free kitchen (Langar).

Baba was also a very dedicated Sikh of Guru Gobind Singh. It is told that once, Dashmesh Guru and his Sikh followers were going to Nili Bar when they visited Baba Bhumman Shah and took Langar at the Dera; pleased with Shah's noble mission, Gobind Singh blessed him that his Langar would continue to grow with no shortage of any kind.

Addressing media persons at a press conference held at Congress Bhawan Sirsa today, Mr. K.J. Rao General Secretary FAME (Foundation for Advanced Management of Elections) and Ex-advisor to Election Commission of India dispelled the misconception that Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) can be tampered with. Mr. Rao said that EVMs are absolutely foolproof and tamperproof. They are very much comparable to the best EVMs used even in the USA. During the development of EVM’s they were put to rigorous tests and there after no complainant about tampering of EVMs from time to time and in different parts of the country could prove his complaint, in fact many of the complaining parties had won the same elections where they had complained against the EVMs, the complaints were more or less political exercise of the parties to save their face just in case they lost the elections. He urged that media should also come forward and inform the people about the reliability of EVM; he subtly hinted that such rumors against EVMs should not be entertained by media if any political party tries to spread them.

Later Mr. Ashok Tanwar MP Sirsa and President IYC kick started the state wide membership enrolment of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) from Sirsa. Mr. Tanwar told media persons that since the formation of IYC in 1960, this is a first major reform which has taken place, this will ensure total democratization of internal affairs of the IYC, for this Mr. Rahul Gandhi has entrusted this project to FAME (Foundation for Advanced Management of Elections), this shall mean the end of ‘Chamchagiri’ era. Now on-ward any one from grass root level can also become a leader if he has the right talent and qualities compared to earlier situation, when only persons with right contacts could rise in the party. He said that the membership forms shall be scrutinized and a computerized data base with the photos of the members shall be maintained.

Even much before the announcement of the by election of Ellenabad, and not caring for the oncoming Congress Rally on 29th November to be addressed by CM Haryana, Congress men who had assembled at Congress Bhawan in Sirsa to iron out differences in the command of Phool Chand Mulana, instead took to volley of words leading to scuffles and manhandling of each other.

Pandemonium prevailed during Haryana Congress workers meeting held at Congress Bhawan here today and chinks in the ranks of the party came to the fore.

According to party sources some of the workers were even manhandled by the rival groups.

The presence of HPCC president Phool Chand Mullana, minister of state for Home, Gopal Kanda, Chief Parliamentary secretary Prahalad Singh Gillankhera, and other senior leaders could not prevent the workers from causing an unsavory situation, party insiders said.

The minority govt. led by Bhupinder Singh would not last long and would fall
soon due to internal pulls and pushes and would pave the way for another Assembly elections in the state. This was stated by INLD supreme and MLA f rom (Ellenabad and Uchana kalan). He claimed that in case Hooda completed the full term it would the 8th wonder of the world, as he would not be competent to accommodate all the aspirants for berths in the cabinet. Mr. Chautala alleged that Mr. Hooda was misleading the people by making false promises and announcing a plethora of soaps for which he would miserably fail to provide funds. He said that Hooda was also indulging in wasteful expenditure on his much hyped Hansi Butana canal for which he would fail to get water and further alleged that it was the wanton misuse of the public exchequer and asked as to who would compensate for the losses. He futher alleged that the Congress Governments both in the state as well as at the centre are responsible for no completion of the Haryana’s life line the SYL canal for which then govt. of Ch. Devilal had already deposited a sum of Rs. one crore to the Punjab Govt. as the cost of the land acquired for the construction of the SYL canal. He wondered that even after the orders of the apex court the Centre was dilly dallying the construction of the canal. He further claimed that when his party would come to power in the state it would ensure canal’s construction.

Make ‘Jai Rakt Data’ your greeting salutation- YS Khyalia.
Blood should be waiting for the patient instead of patient waiting for the blood. - YS Khyalia Deputy Commissioner SIRSA
Nayaa Saal Nayaa Savera two-day workshop for training of blood donor motivators and blood-camp held at CMK College Auditorium.
Thousands of delegates from all over Haryana participated in the workshop organized by the Haryana State Blood Transfusion Council (HSBTC), Shiv Shakti Rakta Datta Samiti, Sirsa, Indian Red Cross Society, Indian Society of Blood Transfusion, Indian Medical Association and half a dozen of other organizations.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Sirsa, Yudhbir Singh Khyalia, said that today the few seated on the dais in this function are not VIPs, in fact all who are present here are VIPs, as all of us are connected to the noblest cause of blood donation and motivation for blood donation, in one way or the other, so no one is less important than any other.

Apart from Mr. Khyalia, Dr. Jasjeet Kaur, Deputy Director Blood safety Haryana & Dr. Ved Beniwal founder chairman Shiv Shakti Rakt Data Samiti were the keynote speakers at the morning session of the two day workshop.

Dr Beniwal said that the aim of workshop is to motivate new blood donors in a scientific way, he said that he is connected to rural India and he is aware that it is not easy to break the barrier between a non-donor and a donor, but once this hurdle is over the donor also becomes a successful motivator, as he is well connected to his community and society at all levels. He said blood from voluntary & regular blood donors collected by blood banks was considered to be the safest blood for transfusion as it comes from persons, who are regularly tested for various communicable diseases and the risk of window period where infections can escape the testing are minimized. He mentioned that Shiv Shakti Blood Bank in Sirsa can boast of state of the art facilities and is ably manned by ever hardworking Dr. RM Arora.

Dr Jasjeet Kaur said, “Though overall there may not much gap between demand and supply of blood in Haryana but this is not evenly distributed, like Sirsa which boasts of even making it to the Guinness Book of World record of holding largest no of Donors at a blood donation camp in a single day, we need to make blood donation available evenly at all places so that in an emergency sufficient quantity of safe blood is available as close as possible to the needy.” ‘Nayaa saal Nayaa Savera’ mission from 1st January 2010 shall be an effort to meet the above goal” she added.
