A two day National Conference on ‘Futuristic Trends of Engineering & Technology’ (FTET-08) concluded at JCDV today. Dr. Kuldeep Dhindsa informed Sirsa News that the conference was attended by nearly one hundred engineers and technology experts from all over India, many of these were of international eminence. Dr. Dhindsa said that idea behind holding this conference was to share experiences and knowledge of these engineers not only with the students of this engineering college but also with the faculty members for the betterment of both, as it is very much necessary today that the education and its imparting be contemporary with the changing times.

Dr. Kuldeep Dhindsa also hinted that with the success of this conference, another conference, this time an international conference is also on the anvil to be held probably in the month of March 2008 at the JCDV Campus.

Mr. VP Gupta, Principal of the Engineering College, said that under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ajay Singh Chautala, and with the efforts of Dr. Kuldeep JCDV it had been possible to hold a National conference on engineering issues.

The Chief Guest Prof. Abhijit Mukherji, director, TIET, (popularly known as Thapar Engineering College Patiala, which is now Thapar university), left the audience spell bound not only with his impeccable and impressive non-monotonous English oration but also made many of the audience day dream with his imaginative ideas on the future possibilities of technology. Prof. Mukherji said that he always asked his students that he shall be happier to know if some of his students come up to him and say that some of the Laws of the Science may be less than perfect, he said since science unlike many other fields is dynamic in nature, what was held true a century ago may be absurd today so one should not set up boundaries defined by various known scientific facts and borders, it is now high time to go and search beyond the boundaries for newer innovations. He said that there is absolutely no harm in running the horses of imagination into unconventional ideas without the apprehensions created by known facts and scientific theories, the ideas may end up into failure but just in case if the idea clicked then its shall not be just an idea or fancy imagination but shall turn out to be a major breakthrough in technology.

He informed that internet used to be a privilege only of the US Army is now proliferating every where and the day is not far away when the farmers can bee seen using the internet to get info about latest market prices of their produce.
Dr. Jai Parkash Hooda, Principal, B. Ed. who was coordinating many of duties at the conference was seen happy at the success of the FIET08.

Mr. Ajay Singh Chautala in his valediction lecture said that he can now see the dream of Legendary Ch Devi Lal coming true with quality education being imparted in such small cities like Sirsa and the same quality education also being available to students from BPL. He thanked all the eminent engineers for accepting the invitation to this conference.

Mr. Chautala also lauded the efforts of Dr. Dhindsa, Major Sirohi, their faculty members, students and non teaching staff who teamed up to make this event a great success.

Mr. Virender Chauhan, was quick enough to display the picture and then NEWS about Swami Vivekanand from the Jansanchar Portal itself as and when the minister referred to the Swami, perhaps not many noticed his-this synchronization effort.

Addressing the audience Mr. V.S. Chauhan HOD Journalism & Mass Communication said that everyone must be aware that today most of the newspapers and TV channels are also maintaining their supporting web portals along with their mainstream media, hence it shall be very prudent for all Journalism & Mass Communication students to learn the website authoring and web news basics. He added that this portal shall be more like an online lab for Journalism students, and in this way the Portal shall be able to provide them opportunity for on hands training on this aspect which shall be an added advantage to such students when they become professionals.

Dr. K.C. Bhardwaj Vice Chancellor, CDLU, thanked the minister for accepting the invitation for the launch of this web portal out of his busy schedule.

The Sikh Light Infantry finds its origins in the Sikh Pioneers raised in 1857. Sikh Pioneers were used in various military campaigns in India and abroad and highly regarded for their determined resolve to complete the assigned tasks against all opposition. The Sikh Pioneers were later merged into the Sappers and Miners. World War-II and its need for additional troops saw the rise of Mazhabi and Ramdasia Sikhs as a regiment in 1941. The designation was changed to the Sikh Light Infantry in 1944.
