Addressing a press conference at his Dabwali Road residence, Mr. Abahay Singh Chauatla MLA for Ellenabad said that the Kanda Brothers once against tried to use money power first to purchase the voters, after the failure to lure the voters in MC elections with money and having had a bitter defeat, Kanda Bros, tried to purchase the MC by offering them lakhs of rupees and sold them dreams of Government Jobs.

On the other hand Govind Kanda categorically denied such allegations and said that they only won 6 MC seats, what would have been the idea of offering offers and money to any MC.

Later INLD also released the list of Zila Parishad candidates along with their contact numbers to Press and Media, and asserted that once INLD shall prove by winning Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Elections that people desire a come back of INLD regime. Congress has also fielded some political heavy weights in this Zila Parishad Elections.

JD The famous lamination maestro and Graphics artist of Sirsa presented Ch. Abhay Singh Chautala a prototype of designer badge for newly elected INLD MCs, Mr. Chautala so liked the design that he placed an order for making similar badges for rest of the INLD MCs aswell. Picture Below:

Cotton growers of villages of Nezadela Kalan and Jhompraa have a new role apart from just growing cotton now they are a part of the research team of joint project of CICR (Central Institute for Cotton Research) Sirsa and NAIP (National Agricultural Innovation Project of Indian Council of Agricultural Research) funded by World Bank.

CICR Sirsa station shall associate more than 50 farmers of these two villages and sow new varieties of cotton on approximately 100 acres of land, CICR shall closely monitor along with the farmers the growth and development of these varieties in real field trials, of these villages where cotton is conventionally grown. “Feed back from the first hand experience of farmers is of prime importance in reaching the conclusive reports of any project, that is why we are associating farmers who had been into Cotton farming since decades.” Dr. D. Monga informed Sirsa news. The expenditure and all inputs shall not be borne by these farmers, instead on the harvesting of the crop the produce shall be purchased by Mumbai based CIRCOT and the profits after deducing the expenditure shall be handed over to the farmers.

There seems to be no respite from heat in the coming days, if MSN weather forecast is to believed which seems to be always more accurate in case of Sirsa in comparison to Governments Met Department, then Temperature in Sirsa may rise to a whopping almost 50 degrees in the next couple of days. Humans, Animals, Birds and Crops are withering in this heat, the markets give a deserted look if you pass through them from mid day till evening, only in the morning & evening business hours there is some activity. Cotton Crop is under big heat strain. Temperatures higher than 40 degrees are unsuitable for Cotton crop, this time it is continually running several degrees above 40, even the newer varieties can not bear this high temperature, the situation is further aggravated due shortage of irrigation water. However the power situation is not that grim, some owe to the election season, first in the cities and towns and now in the villages, while others say whatever the reason, the availability of power and few and smaller duration power cuts are the only savior. First week of June, may arrive with some thunderstorm type of conditions to cheer up after prolonged May heat.

Campaigning for MC Elections to be held on 20th is in full swing. Sirsa News is reporting for Ward no 28 as an Icon for rest of the wards, Ward no. 28 comprises of Posh B-Block & C-Block along with ordinary Durga Colony and Sanjay Colony, so it represents a window to scenario of majority of wards of Sirsa.

In ward the main contest is between Ajay Phutela supported by Congress, Harshwardhan supported by INLD & Rajesh Bahiya supported by Vikas Manch faction of Congress (the order is alphabetic). The ward has chronic problem of Too much of water (non drainage of rain Water) or No water (Drinking water is insufficient and often polluted with mixing of sewage), sanitation, cleanliness, power shortage, broken roads, problems of BPL Families and old age pensioners, the ward is abound with Stray Cattle and the list goes on……These problems find their replica in rest of the wards as well.

Ajay Phutela promises that if he is elected he will develop undeveloped park areas, improve roads and sanitation and rid the ward of Drainage and unclean and insufficient drinking water problem; he shall be available to its voters and said that the allegations of opponents that he won’t be accessible are ill founded. “in fact our family had been since ever involved in social and philanthropic work, now we want to augment the same by the way of an elected representative of the ward.” said Ajay Phutela to Sirsa News (Watch Video Interview above).

Rajesh Bahiya Ex MC claimed that much has been done in his previous tenure, the ward got rid of low voltage problem, Storm water drains have been laid, and Roads have been re-carpeted with bitumen. “I am connected with common man, and am available to one and all the time to solve their problems. On the other hand his competitor won’t get mandate from voters as he comes from a rich family, he does not have enough time to look after number of his family businesses, how can he help the people of the ward? ” asks Rajesh Bahiya.

INLD supported Harshwardhan Mehta writes off claims of both these candidates and alleges that nothing has been done by Congress for this ward, and only he can solve the problems of commoners if given a chance, he said that he shall tow the welfare policies of Chautala sahib which are all in public interest.

The shrewd voters of ward no 28 listen keenly to all the candidates and promise them that they will make then successful but keep their decision close toe their heart and whisper that only the Election Day will decide their fate. This it-self is giving nightmares to the candidates who claim that they are confident of winning and ask the voters how is our position? in the same sentence.

With Electorate all set to go for Municipal Elections on 20th May, the political din is now on a high not with standing the exceptionally high May temperatures this week, even while the Mercury is expected to sour higher in the coming ten days.

The MC Elections are confined to cities and towns where most of the candidates who are not accustomed to taking the heat are out of their comfy dwellings to woo the voters. Unlike Rural voters where most of the voters are accessible at certain times of the day like in the early morning or evenings, the urban voter plays truant with the candidates, and the candidates are having tough time for even one time meet with their prospective voter. So they are out right from early morning and try to outreach the voter till late in the night. Temperatures reaching as high as 45 deg Celsius and expected to touch almost 48 degrees before the elections is no deterrent to even high profile candidates who mostly remain confined to Air-conditioned homes or office dwellings normally.

Sirsa Weather Next Five Days

In several wards out of the 31 wards of Sirsa city, the going is tough as mostly the contest is 3 cornered with two factions of Congress not uniting against INLD, mostly Urban voters don’t have much an inclination towards INLD but the clear factionalism in Congress can be of advantage to INLD in certain wards where INLD has fielded strong and popular candidates. In several wards out of the 31 wards of Sirsa city, the going is tough as mostly the contest is 3 cornered with two factions of Congress not uniting against INLD, mostly urban voters don’t have much an inclination towards INLD, as it is not the ruling party at this time, but the clear factionalism in Congress can be of sure advantage to INLD in certain wards where INLD has fielded strong and popular candidates. While in some wards the contest is two cornered only despite several candidates. Political heavyweights are simply avoiding in involving themselves in electioneering at least directly, and the candidates are left to fend for themselves.

The Voter is maintaining a studied silence, keenly meets every candidate and probably shall make up a mind close to the Election Day.

A voluntary blood donation camp was organised by Govt. Polytechnic, Sirsa on 05/05/2010. A team from AIIMS Delhi blood bank conducted the camp, wherein more than 200 students and Staff members of Govt. Polytechnic Sirsa came forward to donate blood.

Dr. Kiran Khaliya, President, Red Cross, Civil Hospital Wing, Sirsa was the chief guest on the occasion and said that if the younger generation pledges and came forward to give blood voluntarily, there will be no dearth of blood worldwide. Though Sirsa is already surplus in blood availability due to relentless efforts of Deputy Commissioner Sirsa, but else where there is a big gap in demand and supply. She added that requirements of safe blood were ever increasing and regular voluntary blood donations were vital for blood transfusion services. She applauded the efforts of the organizers in encouraging the youth and conducting the camp and that this shall go a long way in fortifying the spirit of the slogan, ‘Blood Shall Wait for the patient.”

Spreading awareness on the subject, Dr (Col.) Dutta from AIIMS, Delhi said in his address that a healthy adult could give blood 3-4 times a year without any problem. The withdrawn blood volume is restored within 24 hours, he said even as allayed other fears and misconceptions regarding blood donation. He informed that those who had body tattoos recently cannot donate blood for one year, appending to this Er. Pushpinder urged the students that since Tattooing may cause some health hazard there for it would be wise on part of students not get their body tattooed at all.

On the occasion, Mr. Sudhir Gilhotra, Principal, in his address extended his thanks to Chief Guest and also motivated the students for this noble cause. Mr. Gilhotra said that as in sports every member of a winning team is contributor to the victory, here also in Blood donation every individual’s participation is of prominence in making this world, self sufficient in transfuse-able blood requirements.

Electro GPS, a Society of department of Electrical Engineering, did extraordinary efforts for success of this camp.

Talking to Sirsa News Mr Ashwini Kumar said that perhaps Sirsa is unique in India by becoming self sufficient and blood surplus, the earlier precondition of supply of blood to donee on blood replacement only is foregone and now anyone can get blood whenever required in Sirsa district unconditionally. Mr Yadav from Rotary blood bank said that its amazing to know that a small District like Sirsa has achieved this whereas Delhi and NCR despite education and better economic conditions is far lagging behind in the filed of blood donation, there is a huge gap between demand and supply, Rotary is doing its bit with zeal but many other organizations need to be involved to achieve the targets. Mr. Yadav also displayed a Memento in the form of Rotary Blood Donor mug that is gifted to every donor.

Sh. Ashok Narang, Vijay Girdhar, Rajender Jindal, Mannu Lal, Pushpinder Kaushal, Subash Chander, Arvinder Singh, Manoj Kumar, Harnek Singh, Mohit Bangar, Anil Nain, Rajender Jhorad were also present on the occasion.
