THE MORTAL remains of Captain Sachin Bhatia who was killed when his Army helicopter co piloted by him met with a mishap and fell into a river Ram Ganga near Bareilly on Wednesday, were consigned to flames in the local Shivpuri Cremation grounds yesterday with full Civil and Military honours. Thousands of people belonging to cross section of society attended the funeral procession. Group captain Air Commander GS. Bedi from the local Air Force Station. placed a wreath on his body on behalf of Air Force, Dr, KV. Singh OSD to Haryana Chief Minister and Deputy Commissioner SK. Goyal placed wreaths on behalf of State Government. A contingent of Army, (82 Armed 10 Mech Dn.) fired 3 rounds in the air near his pyre to pay homage.The cortege was escorted by the local police led by SHO Ajay Sharma. His body in a casket wrapped in Tri-Colour arrived in the cremation grounds at 10.30 am. His in consoling family members including his mother and a large number of women were also present. Sachin’s younger brother lit the pyre. Major K. Dubey who along with Subedar Major Ved Prakash accompanied the coffin from Bareilly later while talking to news men said that Sachin along with Major K. Singh was on a TRAINING SORTY when the unfortunate mishap occurred. He said that the exact cause of death was still unknown as his post-mortem report was not yet received.

Dr. John V. George Director General Prisons (Haryana) participated in the Inaugural Ardas at the opening of Gurdwara Ichapurni inside Distt. Jail Sirsa yesterday.
Superintendent of Jail Mr. J.S. Sethi HPS, told Sirsa NEWS that the Gurdwara has been build by the efforts and funds raised by the inmates and their relatives was also constructed by the inmates themselves, this including all the masonry carpentry and plumbing works. A Mandir, Brahmkumaris Ashram and a Pir Baba Dargah already exist at the Jail premises.

2 KILLED, 10 INJURED IN TATA SUMMO- ROADWAY BUS HEADON COLLISION.
2 PERSONS WERE killed and 10 others were seriously injured in a headon collusion between a Tata Sumo and a Haryana Roadways Bus near village Moriwala on National Highway about 22 kms from here today. According to sources the ill-fated Summo was heading towards Hansi and the Bus was on its way to Sirsa when the mishap occurred. A passenger in the Tata Summo’s driver Khazan Chand and Darshana Devi a resident of local Rania gate who was traveling in it died on the spot. All the injured were admitted to the local Civil Hospital. The Ding police of the district are investigating.
8 KILLED, 5 INJURED TRACTOR-TRUCK COLLISION.
IN A heart rending road mishap 8 persons were killed and 5 others were grievously injured when the Tractor trailer they were traveling in was hit by a speeding Truck near village Moriwala on National Highway No. 10 on Sunday late afternoon when they were returning after participating in a religious function at village Sikanderpur. On getting information ADC YS. Khialia, SDM Harish Bhatia and DSP Dr. Dheeraj Setia accompanied by Traffic Police rushed to the spot to assist and supervise the rescue and relief work. All the injured including Des Raj and Ladha Ram etc. were shifted to the local Civil Hospital. Accordng to police sources some of the victims including Rampiari (40), Rita (18), Kaka (16),Soma rani (17), Sunita (18) and Amandeep Kaur (13) died on the spot. One of most critically injured died on way to Rohtak.
