A delegation of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGPC) led by Jathedar Jagdev Singh Mattdadu, S. Swarn Singh Wirk, Master Sampooran Singh Rania, Jagseer Singh (Jagga) MC Kalanwali, Savinder Singh etc. met ADC Sirsa Ms Pankaj Chaudahry to demand the following.

• Extending last date for applications for SGPC Voter registration.

• Elimination of anomalies in the above process.

• Elimination of anomalies in the election process of SGPC.

The last date of applying for new votes for Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committtee (SGPC) is 15th July, the same may kindly be extended at least by one month, as scores of aspirant applicants, especially in the rural areas wont be able to avail this opportunity, as they were earlier preoccupied with Panchayati Raj Elections, and now with the farm operations related to transplantation of Paddy. The date may kindly be extended till 15th September, 2010.

Further there is a big shortage of application forms for SGPC voter registration; the same may be made available. The Patwaris associated with the process of receiving the application forms are also giving a cold shoulder to the process and are often unnecessarily complicating the procedure, they be instructed to cooperate.

The delegation, also apprised the officer, that in the forthcoming election of SGPC, the elections be conducted on the pattern of Panchayat Elections or General Elections. The number of Polling booths for Panchayat elections/General Elections is at least at Village level, but in SGPC the number of polling booths is far less than these and often several Kilometers away from the residence of the voter, thus depriving him of the opportunity of exercising his franchise. This time there should be as many booths as possible for the SGPC elections for the convenience of the Sikh Voters. A memorandum regarding the above addressed to DC Sirsa was presented to ADC Sirsa, as the Deputy Commissioner was too busy to give an appointment after meeting BKO Association SIRSA.

HARYANA BRICK KILN OWNERS DECIDE TO CLOSE KILNS. SALES TAX DEPT.

CAUSING HEAVY LOSSES TO HARYANA EXCHEQUER

The district Sirsa Brick kiln owners association has decided to support and join the Haryana Brick owners Association’s decision to close their ‘Bhattas’ for an indefinite period in protest against what they allege the step motherly treatment at the hands of the concerned Haryana Govt. officials especially the Sales Department as well as the menace created by the “Lal Jhanda Bhatta Mazdoor Unions which are not only exploiting the poor Batta labourers but also creating all sort of obstacles in the functioning of the brick kilns. This was stated by Bhim Jhuntra the president of the District Sirsa brick kiln Association while addressing media persons here yesterday. He said that it was unanimously decided by the Haryana state BKO Association in its meeting held at Sonepat on 9.5.2010 that all the Bhattas in the state would stop functioning from the next seasons till the state Govt. comes to their rescue and saves them from the day to day difficulties being faced by the BKOs ( Brick kiln owners) He alleged that the worst tormenters are the Lal Jhanda Union people who every season extract Rs. 100/- from every Bhatta labourer under the pretext of safeguarding their interests and to save them from the exploitation of the BKOs., but in fact it is they who exploit both the labourers as well as the BKOs. They also pressurize the concerned authorities to fix higher and higher wages for the Bhatta labourers to extort maximum from them later. He also alleged that these Lal Jhanda leaders always threaten the BKO that they would bring the police as they are keeping bonded labourers where as there are not even any boundary walls around the Bhattas which are being run in the open, all the labourers are paid huge amounts in advance which are later adjusted. He alleged that the district Sirsa Sales tax department in collusion with the Brick kiln owners of the contiguous Punjab areas is allowing to smuggle their bricks in Sirsa district and causing huge losses to public exchequer through Tax evasion as also heavy financial losses to the local BKOs. He said that the Kilns would remain closed till their just demands were not sorted out by the State Govt.

Watch Video: Panchayat General Elections Scenario at Vill. Mallekan at the end of this post.

The second part of Panchayat General Elections shall be held tomorrow, SirsaNews today toured several villages and today on the last day of electioneering brings a glimpse of election scenario in Village Mallekan, a village with a electoral strength of more than 4400 voters. Touring the village which has almost taken the shape of a small town this correspondent talked to several villagers and shopkeepers in Mallekan, a unique aura of shrewd behavior from the voters could be seen, in the same sentence the voters expressed victory to both the candidates for the Sarpanch post which this time is reserved for woman candidates. There is an interesting contest between Dr Sandeep Jot Bajwa and Smt Sukhjeet Kaur. Dr. Sandeep Bajwa is qualified GAMS doctor and runs a clinic in the village, though novice to politics she banks her victory on the past family social work record of her in-laws family as well social work that she had been doing. Dr Sandeep is pitted against Smt Sukhjeet Kaur banks heavily on her husband, Jagdev Singh who had been ex- Sarpanch of this village. Jagdev is not new to politics and had been in active politics since several years.

Much awaited demand of residents of Ellenabad area, to set up a Government College in this sleepy town seems to be fulfilled now, a team of Govt. National college on instructions of Haryana Government today inspected various buildings of Ellenabad to explore possibility of make shift arrangements of starting admissions from next academic session (Session 2010), so that in a year or so new building may be constructed. Dr. Suman Gulab principal Government National College Sirsa headed the team and short listed a few buildings; if any of these is approved by Government then classes may start this very session. It may be recalled that in December 2009 CM Haryana Mr. BS Hooda had announced that Ellenabad shall get a Government College very soon but he has not mentioned any dateline for the same, this even reflected badly on the Poll prospects of the Congress candidate in the by-elections held in January 2010, on the other hand Ex-CM Haryana and INLD Supremo, Sh. OP Chautala had announced during the same elections that a College in private sector shall be started under the aegis of CDMT from July 2010 session. If both colleges happen to start this very session it shall be big advantage to this educationally backward area of the district. A 3rd college is already running at Village Jeevan Nagar

The day long rain brought much needed respite from dust and heat that had been prevailing in the region since last several weeks. Rising temperatures touched almost 50 degree Celsius in the last week of May, causing burning of crops affecting life and business and heavily telling on state power supply system. But the rain gods cheered up everyone with showers mixed with dust on 6th evening followed by full day of pleasant drizzle on 7th June. Withering Cotton crops now stand bailed out of the gloomy situation, as the climate has turned now to be most suitable for the crops.

1st Phase of Panchayat General Elections over peacefully.

06 June, 2010

The 1st phase of Panchayat Gen elections was over last evening almost peacefully with only a few sporadic incidents reported from a few villages, where heated arguments lead some scuffles and a jeep was damaged in village Bappan. But by and large the election was peaceful. 2nd phase of this election is slated for June 12.
