The packed house at JCDV (Jannayak Ch Devilal Vidyapeeth) reverberated with roars, whistles and thunderous ovations as the curtains came down on VERVE 2011, the three-day festival here on Saturday. The students of JCDV proved that a college festival can be made big even without the celebrity quotient and that too sans a heavy spending budget. More than 1,000 students from 33 different colleges participated in the mega inter-college cultural festival VERVE 2011. The entire campus was alive with activity as the events were happening at four different venues. The gaming department at ‘VERVE’ has also organized modified outdoor sports such as tug of war and volley ball”.

SS Girls College, Sirsa won the overall Trophy and grabbed prizes worth Rs. 21000/-. Chief guest Dr. Shamim Sharma, Executive Director, JCD Vidyapeeth gave away prizes in presence of Mr. Manikant Mayank, bureau chief, Jagran News paper, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Principal, IBM (Institute of Business Management) and Dr. Shashi Kapur, Director, IBM.

“A festival is organized to have fun. This time around the biggest attraction of our fest is that we do have hard core management events, we have tried to keep the mood light by allowing participation of various colleges and not just management colleges, in the festival. This will be an opportunity for our students to prove themselves.” said Dr. Shamim Sharma, Executive Director, JCDV.

Innovative yet simply creative décor was much appreciated by all. All participating teams were awarded prizes and certificates to make this event memorable. JCDV College Students had a wonderful time with the feedback being most enthusiastic. "It was a great way to usher in the festival season" said Dr. Kuldeep Singh, HOD, IBM.

Earlier, on 2nd day, Chief guest at the cultural night, Gp. Capt. Anil Sabharwal, Station Commander, Air Force Station, Sirsa, said that cultural programs are the best platform for the students to showcase their potential.

Implausible performances were presented by renowned Haryanvi Artist, Azad Singh, melodious singing performance by Ms. Vidya Tanwar and Mr. Surender Tanwar. The dance performance by Ravinder from Om Institute of Technology and Management, Hisar, was applauded by the audience.

An enthusiastic crew, competitive and talented participants, an energetic crowd and performances to remember…VERVE 2011 had it all!
