Valedictory Function of 4th National
Conference on “Recent Advances in
Engineering Technology and Environmental Issues (RAETE)” was
organized by Jan Nayak Ch. Devi Lal Memorial College of Engineering in auditorium
of JCD Vidyapeeth at 11.30am. There was also a technical session in the field
of Applied Science and Environment Engineering in the morning session of the Conference.
Dr. Vinod Kumar, Dean R& D JCDM College of Engineering and Dr. D.P. Gupta,
Director HCTM Kaithal were the Key note speakers for the session.
Dr. Smriti Monga
in her presentation compared the residual behaviour of Cypermethrin in Okra, Brinjal,
Cucurbitaceous crops and Cypermethrin (as an individual component) of the ready
mix formulations, Roket 44EC and Action- 505EC in Tomato fruits, following
spray application. Ms. Ritu presented her research paper onArtificial Neural Network in Relevance to
Molecular Sequence Analysis. She emphasized the
application of artificial neural networks in understanding life at the
molecular level as well as discussed design issues and current applications in
DNA/RNA and protein sequence analysis. Ms. Monika Kharab presented her
research paper on Flyash as a soil conditioner. Flyash improves the physical,
chemical and biological properties of the soil and enhance the plant growth as
well as productivity.
Later on in Valedictory ceremony Sh. Manjinder
Singh ‘Sirsa’, Municipal Councilor, Punjabi Bagh, Delhi was the Chief Guest of
the occasion and Guest of Honor was Mr. Satish Sati, Head Strategic Marketing,
TCS. The function was presided over by Dr. D.P.
Gupta, Director HCTM Kaithal. The Convener and
Principal JCDM College of Engineering Dr. Gurcharan Dass welcomed all the
guests and the participants. He also expressesd his gratitude to Dr. Shamim
Sharma, Managing Director JCD Vidyapeeth for her tremendous support and
guidance throughout the Conference.
Addressing the audience Dr. D.P. Gupta stated
that environmental problems are social constructions and hence it is task of
social scientists to try and comprehend how we construct, legitimize and
resolve environmental problems.
Mr. Satish Sati, who was Guest of Honor while addressing the audience marked
that the environment has always been a subject of great concern. Talking about
the issue he stressed on the need of thinking differently. “We cannot ignore
one subject and address the other, everything is inter-related and we need to
address all the issues very tactfully,” He also addressed on the need for
involving the youth in all the developmental process so as to make development
more sustainable. He advised the students to develop interactive skills and
logical thinking in them.
The Chief Guest Sh.
Manjinder Singh ‘Sirsa’ in his address said that the need of the hour is to
update the syllabi of the Engineering and Technical Institutes keeping in view
the needs of the environmental improvement in modern age. He also congratulated
the organizers for organizing the conference on the theme of advances in
Engineering, Technology and Environmental issues.
"I thought the conference was a fantastic
opportunity for us to know more about global environmental concerns which will
impact livelihood and economies. As a nation, we are growing and so is our
share of total carbon emissions. There’s a need to build awareness and spread
the word of adaptation and mitigation for tackling the catastrophe," said
Dr. Shamim Sharma, Managing Director, JCD Vidyapeeth, Sirsa. She also
appreciated the hard work behind this conference to make it a successful event.
The certificates were distributed to the participants by the Chief Guest at the
end of Valedictory function. The Keynote speakers for the technical sessions
also appreciated the research work presented by the researchers in their
concerned field. About 65 research papers and 65 posters were presented in 3
day National Conference. Team of Sanmeet & Rekha won the first prize in
Poster Presentation, team of Ram Parkash & Pawan were the winners of second
prize and team of Reena & Pritika were selected for third place.

Vidyapeeth, JCD Times was also released by Chief Guest on this occasion.

23rd February - Report of Day-2:
On 23rd Feb three sessions of
National Conference on paper presentation were in schedule in morning session
research papers from ECE and EEE were presented and in the evening session the
papers in the field of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering were
presented. Dr. Rajesh Khanna, Prof & Head (ECE) Thapar University, Patiala
was the session chair person for ECE and Dr. HNP Srivastva, Prof. EEE JCDM
College of Engineering was the session Chair Person for EEE. Dr. N.S. Bhal, Senior
Advisor of JCD Engineering college was the session chair person for sessions of
Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.
In first
session of ECE, Mr. Vineet Saini and Mr. Pankaj Kaushik jointly
presented their research paper. They compared the performance of Sobel and
Canny edge detectors and proposed better solution for feature extraction in
CBIR also proposed the adaptation and optimization of two edge detector
algorithms used for feature set extraction in CBIR. The Canny edge
detection algorithm performs better than Sobel edge detection with compromise
of time. Mr. Krishan Kumar presented his research paper on Investigation on Heptagonal Structure
Microstrip Antenna for operation in the X-Band Communication Applications. Mr.
Shipra Sardana explained the general
principles of hiding secret information in Audio Signals. Mr. Subhash Sharma and Ms. Prerna Bisht jointlysummarized some of the
most recent emerging nano materials and nanotechnologies such as nano tubes,
nano wires and nano ribbons and their implementations in the energy efficient
VLSI digital application. Mr. Karan Dutta also presented his paper on Nanotechnology.Mr. Vineet Saini
proposed the adaptation and optimization of two edge detector algorithms used
for feature set extraction in CBIR. Mr. Amit Singh presented the effects
and applications of Quantum Dots. Mr. Yogesh Muneja explained the
various facts and security issues in using social networking site Facebook.
In second session, Pankaj Sharma compared the
various optimization techniques for load flow analysis. Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Mr.
Vishavdeep Jindal and Ms Rama Aggarwal also presented their
papers in morning session.
Dr. Rajesh Khanna appreciated the research work
presented by research scholars and advised the students to update their
knowledge with day to day advances in the field of engineering and technology.
The evening
session was started by a talk on “Mine waste Disposal Techniques for the
protection of Environment”. The Key note speaker was Dr. Surendra Roy,
Scientist in Environmental Engineering Department from National Institute of
Rock Mechanics, Ministry Of Mines, Karnataka .Mining
wastes include waste generated during the extraction, beneficiation, and
processing of minerals. Most extraction and beneficiation wastes from hardrock
mining (the mining of metallic ores and phosphate rock) and 20 specific mineral
processing wastes are categorized by EPA as "special wastes" and have
been exempted by the Mining Waste Exclusion from federal hazardous waste
regulations under Subtitle C of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act
(RCRA).
Later on
Research papers from Mechanical Engineering were presented by researchers. Er
Sachin Bansalpresented
the technique of Ultrasonic Machining and its Process Parameters. Mr. Manjeet Singh presented the Process
Capabilities of Abrasive Water Jet Cutting (AWJC) Process.
Dr. Ashwani Dhingra, in his Keynote address emphasized that in post
industrial society, technology is a fatal attraction as in one instance it is
source of environmental damage and on the other hand is also helpful in
repairing the damage.
Prof.
H.N.P Srivastva said that our infrastructure, economy, health, safety and
indeed our entire environment are dependent on scientific and technological
innovation, which is directly supported by engineering education. Dr. Shamim
Sharma, Managing Director JCD Vidyapeeth emphasized that the changing
demographics and socio-economic landscapes worldwide, globalization, and
rapidly evolving technologies have increased the importance of engineering in
the 21st century and the need for innovative and sustainable solutions.
Engineering educators, therefore, are challenged to adapt their courses,
programs and pedagogies to address these changes. Dr. Gurcharan Dass, Principal
JCDM College of Engineering welcomed all the guests and participants presented
in session.
About 25 research
papers from various fields of engineering and technology were presented in the
2nd day of National conference. On this occasion
large number of students and faculty members were also present and got
acquainted with the latest advances in the field of engineering and technology.
How the various stream of engineering can work together to solve the issues in
environmental degradation, was the main topic of discussion among the
scientists present in the conference.
There was also an exhibition of
poster presentation organized in Reading Hall of Library in evening session.
Students from all the braches took part in poster presentation and explained
the concepts behind their respective poster. About 50 posters were displayed in
the exhibition.
Mrs. Seema daughter of Sh
Roshan Lal ADC Sirsa has recently cleared her HCS(Judicial) exam, she will soon
be appointed as Judge. After completing her LLB from Punjab University and even
after her wedding Ms Seema continued to shape her career, she credits her
father for inspiring her which made her clear this coveted exam.
Dr. KC Bhardwaj VC CDLU conferred
degrees to several fresh graduates at Government National College Sirsa. These
degrees are of KUK University, now National College is an affiliate of CDLU, Dr
Suman Gulab principal informed media. Associate Professor Ravinder Puri
anchored the convocation with his well known ability.

A three-day National Conference on “Recent Advances in Engineering Technology and Environmental
Issues (RAETE)” was inaugurated today at auditorium of JCD Vidyapeeth. The Opening Ceremony
witnessed participation of renowned academicians, political scientists,
economists, environmentalists, social activists and others. On first day the
program was started with inaugural session followed by paper presentation
context. Its main objective is to promote the interactions between the engineers, advancing the application
of engineering techniques from the academics to the industry and facilitating
the exchange of information and ideas among the engineers and scientists
freely.

The conference was inaugurated by Sh. Raman Watts, President Bhatinda Chamber of Commerce & Industries and Sh. Joy Lakra, Senior General Manager (Production Engineering) Maruti Udyog Ltd. presided over the function. The Key note speaker on the occasion was Dr. Ramesh C. Kuhad, Prof. Microbiology, Delhi University Delhi. Sh. Manjot Singh, Secretary Bhatinda Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Dr. D.S. Mor, Director CDLMEC Panniwala mota, Industrialists Sh. He said that engineering design and construction industry is characterised by its innovative use of design and technology together with the best safety and environmental practices. Technology enables the industry to create new designs, increase yields, improve safety, reduce environmental impact and operate in remote and extreme locations. Speaking about the theme and concept of the conference, Dr. Shamim Sharma, Managing Director, JCD Vidyapeeth said that the different components of the environment keep on interacting with each other to maintain a mutual balance known as ecological balance in nature. Without disturbing this balance how and what could be the constructive, ethical & purposeful path of development, thinkers at the conference will chalk out a mechanism.
Addressing the audience Chief Guest said that man's desire for ultimate joy and comfort has led him to exploit nature's free gifts to the extent of reducing its natural capacities for self stabilization. This has resulted into numerous environmental problems. The problems may appear small on global level but is quite severe locally.
Presiding over the inaugural session Sh. Raman Watts stressed the need of development based on a balanced approach to the eco-system, a world view which India has been developing down the centuries.
The Guest of Honor highlighted the extent of the issue of environment degradation in light of traditional and cultural contexts. He emphasized that environment is an issue of global concern and highlighted India’s role in constitutionalizing the subject.
In the first session 37 papers from the field of Computer Science& Engineering and Information Technology were presented. Academicians and researchers of concerned field came together to share their thoughts and expertise on the theme.
Mr. Arabinda Sharma, through his presentation stated the Effect of Cell Size of Digital Elevation Model on Soil Loss prediction in Methane Catchment. He suggested that a choice for a certain grid cell size should be made before calibration of the model. Similar erosion models are likely to have similar dependencies on DEM grid size.
Ms. Maneesha Gupta also presented the comparison of Discrete Cosine Transformation and Wave Based Coding and suggested that the image compression algorithm should be addressed from the overall system viewpoints of quantization, entropy coding and the complex interplay among elements of the coding system rather than spending all the efforts on optimizing the transform.

Sh Gopal Kanda Home Minister Haryana gave away prizes on Annual Prize
distribution function of Govt National College Sirsa. Principal Dr. Suman Gulab
apprised the minister about the problems of the college, in anticipation Mr.
Kanda announced funds of Rs11 lacs for development and upkeep of the College
Grounds and construction of a beautiful main gate for the college.

Noted Journalist of Sirsa Dr. OP Bansal was remembered on his 1st
death anniversary by Haryana Union of Journalists (HUJ) by offering flowers on
his pictures and holding 2 minutes Silence (Maun)
at meeting held by the Union. HUJ also announced that an award in his memory
shall be conferred next month. Baljit Singh, Arun Bhardwaj, Dheeraj Bajaj, Sansar
Bhushan Diwakar, state and district level office bearers of the Union and
several members of the HUJ were present.
Dr. OP Bansal breathed his last on 21st February 2011, when he collapsed
while attending a press conference at mini-secretariat. He was immediately
given medical aid but the doctors could not save him from the massive heart
attack that resulted in cardiac arrest.
Dr OP Bansal’s family in PNB Street also held prayers today in his memory.
Dr. OP Bansal will always remain in my cherished memory. He was a friend,
a mentor, a guide, and above all a fine and secular person. I learnt finer
points of journalism, reporting and writing from him. He was always a positive

Engineering is organizing a three-day National Conference on “Recent Advances in Engineering Technology
and Environmental Issues (RAETE)” on Feb 22-24, 2012. The
conference will be spread over three days having inaugural, valedictory, technical
and panel sessions. Dr. R.C Sobti, Vice Chancellor Panjab University Chandigarh
will be the Chief Guest and Sh. Joy Lakra, Senior General Manager (Production
Engineering) Maruti Udyog Ltd. will be the Special Guest on the occasion. Dr.
Ajay Singh Chautala, Chairman JCD Vidyapeeth will Preside Over the inaugural
function. In the opening session the Key note speaker will be Dr. Ramesh

The objective of the conference is to promote the
co-operation between the professionals in various fields of engineering and to
cultivate an environment for the advancement and expansion of the technology
and environmental issues. The event aims to highlight the
recent developments in the field of Engineering, Technology and Environmental
problems associated with intensification and changing climate across the globe.
The conference will feature experts from different parts of India. About 200
research papers will be presented in three days along with poster presentation
on various fields of engineering and environmental aspects. There are five
sessions scheduled in the conference and each session will be chaired by
renowned and eminent personality in their respective field.
The
valedictory address on 24th February will be delivered by Sh.
Maninder Pal Singh Brar, Vice Chairman JCD Vidyapeeth. The Chief Guest for the
valedictory function will be Sh. Manjinder Singh ‘Sirsa’, Municipal Councilor,

Deputy Commissioner informed press and media that PYKKA is a centrally sponsored scheme that was introduced in 2008, The objectives of PYKKA are development and maintenance of play fields in all village and block Panchayats of each state of the country, in a phased manner, over a period of 10 years, at an annual coverage of 10% for the states and 20% in respect of special category states and border districts; and for holding annual sports competitions at block, district, state and national level this includes Inter-school competitions and women competitions.
This scheme offers an ample opportunity for rural youth to participate in organized sports; a huge base for identification of sports talent by SAI and State for nurturing them under their schemes for participation in national and international sports events.

Annual Day of Lord Shiva College of Pharmacy. The Students gave a rich cultural
program on the day.
Jannayak Ch Devilal
Vidyapeeth - Institute of Business Managemnet (JCD-IBM) organized an Industrial
trip to Nainital- Haridwar- Dehradun- Mussoorie of one week for BBA and MBA
students. 47 students went for the trip accompanied with three faculty members.
Students visited Bhimtal, Naukunchtal, Hanuman Mandir, Himalaya Point, Khurptal
View and Mango Lake at Nainital. Students also visited Jim Corbett National
Park to understand the wild life.
Students visited the
spiritually blessed city of Uttaranchal, Haridwar and Patanjali Yogpeeth, Yogshala,
Patanjali University and Hospital. Under the guidance of Mr. Karan Singh, students
paid a visit to the old ashram of Baba Ramdev and reached Divya Pharmacy to study
medicine manufacturing process. Different herbs are crushed into liquid,
filtered, converted into chips, chopped into powder – tablet- coated and packed.
The plant has production capacity of one crore tablets per day and it runs on
an average capacity of 80 lakhs tablet per day. After that, all went to
industrial hub of Patanjali, where various products are produced such as
Chavanparash, Heeng, Anardana, Badam Pak, Amarrasayan, Godhan Ark, Amla, etc.
It is labour intensive unit, generating a lot of employment to local residents.
Working hours vary from 8 to 12 hours depending upon off and peak season. Workers
seem to be satisfied, as getting fair wages, over time wages, education and
medical facilities. Students explored packaging department and warehouses for
domestic market and exports.
Students were delighted to see
the beauty of nature at Mussoorie and thrilled with the heavy snowfall. The
whole trip enlightened students with the varied experiences of nature with an
opportunity to scrutinize practical experience of Industry, forest, lakes and
hills.
JCDV is
also having an International seminar on Environmental Issues on its campus on
22nd February 2012.
