E-libraries are being set
up in Haryana through ‘Gyan Abhiyan Pariyojana’ under Backward Regions Grant
Fund Scheme of Haryana Government. The State Government has a plan to set up e-libraries
in 50 villages of district Sirsa at a cost of Rs one crore.
While stating this here
today, a Deputy Commissioner Dr. J Ganesan said that the work of setting up e-libraries in these villages
would soon commence and it would be completed by the end of August. He said
that Sub-Divisional Officer, Ellenabad, Mr. Prabhjot Singh has been appointed
as Nodal Officers for this purpose who would contact with different companies
through advertisement and other mediums. He said that computers would be linked
with internet in every e-library so that those e-readers could read various
books and magazines and could also check encyclopedia. In villages that are close to Punjab and Haryana border,1000 books of
Hindi, Punjabi and English would be kept in these e-libraries. The e-libraries near to Rajasthan border
area would have Hindi and English books. Apart from this, audio-video CDs and
DVDs would be available along with the facility of online computer in every
e-library, he added. Deputy Commissioner said that digital material related to science,
math, geography and other subjects of school classes would also be made
available in these e-libraries
