GREAT resentment prevails amongst those who attended the Independence Day when the National flag was insulted by hoisting it upside down by the Transport Minister OP. Jain at the local Shaheed Bhagat Stadium here today. The indiscreet act was immediately detected by the vigilant media persons, but as immediately after the hoisting the Minister ignorant about the folly started inspection of the guard of honour, It was only after all the formalities and ceremonies had ended that a media person pointed out the act of great negligence but by then it was too late and the episode had caused great umbrage to the people. It may be recalled that district officials including Deputy Commissioner, the Superintendent Police, and the SDM SK. Jain who were sitting on the dais had noticed their foolishness immediately it was hoisted but instead of rectifying the error immediately kept mum. Later when the media persons pointed out the foolishness to the minister he wanted to whisper something near into the ear of the media person who flatly refused and asked the minister to say whatever he wanted on the mike. The minister said that an enquiry would be ordered to fix the responsibility on the erring official who would be suitably punished.
