Today on the Rasm Bhog of Dr OP Bansal Senior Journalist at Tula Ram Dharamshala, scores of citizens paid obeisance to the departed soul.

HUJ announced annual award for journalists to be awarded every year on the Press Day in memory of Dr. OP Bansal to a Journalist who upheld the quality and ethics of the Journalism throughout the year. The Award was announced by Dr. Gajendra Singh Raghav President HUJ. Mr IM Sharma spoke on behalf of journalist fraternity, Dr Pawan Bansal brother of Dr OP Bansal, thanked all the present on behalf of the family, octogenarian Mr Baldev Baxi Sr. CPI leader spoke on being hi longest association with the departed soul, and described Dr Bansal as most secular person known to him in recent time. Mr. RS Saharan president English Speaking Forum spoke on behalf of the Forum, Mr. SK Jain SDM Sirsa and Mr. Satish Mehra DPRO represented the administration. Mr. Laaj Pushp anchored the stage. People form all walks of life, that included Doctors, Advocates, Professors, Representatives of various Political parties, NGOs and social organizations besides large number of journalists were present on the simple ceremony, that was also concluded at 2PM Sharp as per schedule, as Dr. Bansal was very particular about punctuality.

Haryanvi and Rajasthani Folklore was the flavor of yesterday's music program held at CMK Girls College Auditorium. The Haryanvi Songs were sung by Dr. Kiran Khyalia and her elder sister Mrs. Sunita Chaudhary on the music tracks of Sh Murari Verma. While the Rajasthani folklore was presented by SpicMacay and sung by Rehmat Khan Langa and his troop, while a couple of numbers were also sung by the Music Lecturer of CMK Girls College Mr. Parveen Kumar.

The Foot tapping music from the triple CD Album Mharee Reet - Mhare Geet, made enthusiastic audience overwhelmed, this prompted Ms. Shilpa Verma Distt Women Congress President, couple of lectures of CMK and few students of CMK also (upon permission of Ms Vijaya Tanwar, Principal) to reach the stage and dance to the Haryanvi tunes, this sudden appendage of Dance to the melody of Haryanvi Music made the environment even more charged with energetic music and dance. Deputy Commissioner Sirsa, Dr. Y.S. Khyalia was the chief guest at the occasion. Dr RS Sangwan, Mr Parveen Bagla, Dr Karan Singh, and several members of Sirsa Education Society were present

The body of a minor boy who was kidnapped last night was found today by the Sirsa police at the behest of the kidnapper. According to SHO Krishana Yadav the victim named Deepu (8-9) son of Balbir Singh a resident of Local Go Shala Mohalla was kidnapped by one Jeeta son of Rajoo living opposite victim’s house. The victim had gone to nearby market to get his father’s mobile phone re-charged and when he did not return after about an hour his kin got panicky and informed the police. In the meantime the kidnapper rang up the victims kin and demanded a ransom of Rs. 5 lakhs for the release of the victim and asked that the money be placed in front of the local Jat Dharamshala. But he did not turn up collect the bag of ‘money’. On search the kidnapper was found at the Railway Platform in an inebriated state. On his interrogation he told that he had killed the child and had thrown his body near the Khaja Khera Mod from where the police recovered the body. His body was handed over to his kin after autopsy today evening. The police have registered a criminal case against the kidnapper and have started investigations.

The packed house at JCDV (Jannayak Ch Devilal Vidyapeeth) reverberated with roars, whistles and thunderous ovations as the curtains came down on VERVE 2011, the three-day festival here on Saturday. The students of JCDV proved that a college festival can be made big even without the celebrity quotient and that too sans a heavy spending budget. More than 1,000 students from 33 different colleges participated in the mega inter-college cultural festival VERVE 2011. The entire campus was alive with activity as the events were happening at four different venues. The gaming department at ‘VERVE’ has also organized modified outdoor sports such as tug of war and volley ball”.

SS Girls College, Sirsa won the overall Trophy and grabbed prizes worth Rs. 21000/-. Chief guest Dr. Shamim Sharma, Executive Director, JCD Vidyapeeth gave away prizes in presence of Mr. Manikant Mayank, bureau chief, Jagran News paper, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Principal, IBM (Institute of Business Management) and Dr. Shashi Kapur, Director, IBM.

“A festival is organized to have fun. This time around the biggest attraction of our fest is that we do have hard core management events, we have tried to keep the mood light by allowing participation of various colleges and not just management colleges, in the festival. This will be an opportunity for our students to prove themselves.” said Dr. Shamim Sharma, Executive Director, JCDV.

Innovative yet simply creative décor was much appreciated by all. All participating teams were awarded prizes and certificates to make this event memorable. JCDV College Students had a wonderful time with the feedback being most enthusiastic. "It was a great way to usher in the festival season" said Dr. Kuldeep Singh, HOD, IBM.

Earlier, on 2nd day, Chief guest at the cultural night, Gp. Capt. Anil Sabharwal, Station Commander, Air Force Station, Sirsa, said that cultural programs are the best platform for the students to showcase their potential.

Implausible performances were presented by renowned Haryanvi Artist, Azad Singh, melodious singing performance by Ms. Vidya Tanwar and Mr. Surender Tanwar. The dance performance by Ravinder from Om Institute of Technology and Management, Hisar, was applauded by the audience.

An enthusiastic crew, competitive and talented participants, an energetic crowd and performances to remember…VERVE 2011 had it all!

Rs 1.5 lacs withdrawn from BANK of Baroda Fraudulently

A person escaped after withdrawing Rs 1.50 lakh by forging a cheque of Bank of Baroda here on Friday afternoon. Police have started investigations after registering a case against the unidentified person. The Bank’s regular customer Satpal Singh came to know about it when he was taking the bank statements and noticed sudden dip in the balance by Rs1.5 lacs which he never withdrew. Further Satpal said that he has never used any of the cheques from his cheque book so far.

2 Sirsa girls honored by Governor Pahadia.

Haryana governor Jagannath Pahadia on Thursday honored 33 outstanding sportspersons and two coaches, who brought laurels not only for the state but also for the country at various national and international sports events. Out of these two girls are from SIRSA. Ms. Parvesh Kaur and Ms. Priyanka of Sirsa, both for throw ball, were honored and conferred with a cash prize of Rs1 lac each. Apart form this 7 Haryana sportspersons were conferred with Bhim Award

A three day management festival at JCD IBM (Jan Nayak Ch. Devilal Vidyaapeeth, Institute of business management.) was inaugurated today by Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Ashok Mittal of ICFAI University, while the Dr. Sahmim Sharma Ex Dir. JCDV and Mrs Anshu Bhargav industrialist were the guests of honor. In the evening session a fashion show was organized which was inaugurated by the chief guest Mr. Harkirat Singh MD Aero Club, Mr PK Sharma also from Aero Club was the Guest of Honour.

ONE Netra Ram (60) an accountant with the local Amar Flour Mills was today robbed of a sum of Rs. 6 lakhs which he had withdrawn from Punjab National Bank situated near the local Jagdev Chowk. According to the complaint he filed with the police he had withdrawn a sum of Rs. 6.08 lakhs from the Bank around noon, he kept Rs, 6 lakhs in a bag and the remaining 8 thousand in his pocket. He was going on his bicycle and when he arrived near Baba Bihari Netralaya, two motorcycle borne unidentified youth pushed his bicycle and fled after snatching the bag containing the money. He immediately informed the local police. The POLICE started investigation to nab the culprits.
