Ahinsa Yatra

Ahinsa Yatra led by Sadhwi Kanak Prabha disciple of Acharaya Maha Pragya of the Jain Samaj, reached Sirsa today from the Dabwali side of Sirsa. The Yatra has started on 5th Dec 2001 from Sujan Garh in Rajasthan. The Yatra was given a warm welcome by many organizations of Sirsa at Ch. Dalbir Singh Indoor Stadium, from the stadium the Yatra in the form of a procession marched through various bazaars and reached a venue near Jain Dharm Shala, Jain School Street, Bhadra Bazar SIRSA. Mr L.D. Arora Minister of Industries welcomed the Yatra on behalf of the Haryana State. Hundereds of devotees from Jain Samaj attended the function, the women were all dressed in saffron and yellow for this occasion.

Sadhwi Kanak Prabha said, “Its vital to develop a culture of non-violence.” She said that Acharya Mahapragya had started this Yatra, moved by the Gujrat Riots. She said over a period Hinsa (Violence) has dominated over Ahinsa (Non-Vilonce), this must be reverted for the betterment of the society. She said that even during the days of militancy in Punjab, Acharaya Mahapragya was instrumental in the happening of Rajiv-Longowal accord.
