Haryana to be free from Power perils in 30 months - Selja 22 September 2006

Union Minister for Housing, Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation, Ms Selja, addressing a press conference at Banssivat Mandir Complex today said that the ongoing problem of Power Shortage being faced by Haryana should be over in about 2 ½ years. She said that there is huge gap between and demand and supply, this is so because the previous Govt had done nothing concrete about power generation.
Dr KV Singh, Mr. Surender Nehra, Mr Parveen Bagla and Sh Hoshiara Lal Sharma flanked her. Dr KV OSD to CM Haryana said that only yesterday Haryana Govt had signed MoUs with 4 private companies for supply 770 MW of Power to Haryana by 2008. Dr. KV Singh said that already Gas based and Coal based Power Generation Projects are under development in Haryana. Dr. Singh further said that Haryana Govt is further negotiating to lease contract some mines in Jharkhand is planning to put up Power Generation Plants at the mine sites it self, this shall prevent rheft of Coal, delay in reaching of coal, cut down huge transportation charges involved in delivering coal to thermal station. Dr Singh also said that site for a Nuclear Power station has also been earmarked at Fatehabad.
Dr. KV Singh also said that the the order of Punjab And Harayana High Court to restrain and stop all commercial activity on residential plots was limited to areas under control of HUDA only.
Later Ms Selja went to visit residence of Mr. Prem Singh Kamboj a congress leader, there after she layed foundation stones of 3 new power sub stations of different capacities at Risalia Khera etc. A delegation……………more soon
