HSGPC Submits 50,000 Affidavits from Sirsa Favoring Separate Gurdwara Committee in Haryana

A Jatha of members of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (Adhoc) left with more than 50,000 affidavits from Sikhs of Distt SIRSA supporting the formation of a separate management body for Sikh Gurdwaras and Sikh Shrines in Haryana. These affidavits to be deposited at the residence of Mr. Harmohinder Singh Chattha Agriculture Minister Haryana who also heads the ‘Chatta Committee’ set up by Govt of Haryana to look into the demand of Sikhs of Haryana. The Chatta committee had previously asked Sikhs of Haryana to send in affidavits favoring the formation of HSGPC or objections to it by 9th September 2006.
S. Jagtaar Singh Taari State Spokesman of HSGPC (Adhoc) informed SIRSANEWS That the affidavits favoring the committee from Sirsa-Rania-JeevanNagar-Ellenbad-Kalanwali-Dabwali and Rori areas were deposited with Dr. Gurcharn Singh Sandhu, Distt Presdient HSGPC (Adhoc). Bundles of these affidavits were today carried by S. Jagdev Singh Mattdadu, Member SGPC, S. Surender Singh Wirk, S. Sardul Singh Kotli, Malkiat Singh Rania, Puran Singh Rania, Laadi etc. to Kurukshetra.
At the time of sending Jatha with these bundles, S. Malkit Singh Khosa, Dr. Gurcahran Singh, Dr. Avtaar Singh, S. Malik Singh Kang, S. Mahender Singh Khajakhera, S. Lakhbir Singh Gill, S. Jagtaar Singh Taari, Master Sampooran Singh were present.

S. Deedar Singh Nalwi Gen Secretary HSGPC (Adhoc) informed Sirsa News over a telephonic talk that Sikhs from all over Haryana have responded with great enthusiasm at this opportunity to voice their long-standing demand for a separate committee for management of Gurdwaras in Haryana. Over 2 lakh affidavits favoring the formation of HSGPC have already poured in at the residence of Mr. Harmohinder Singh Chatta, several thousands more affidavits are expected to reach before evening.
KRUKSHETRA: (PTI) Haryana Agriculture Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha said that the decision regarding the formation of a separate Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) for Haryana would be announced by year-end,
"The decision regarding the formation of separate SGPC for Haryana will be announced by December 31, 2006 after conducting parleys with the stalwart leaders and social organisation working in the sate for the welfare of the Sikh community," he said after meeting a delegation of Sikhs at his residence on Pipli road.
Chatha, who heads the committee set up by the state government to look into the issue of setting up a separate SGPC for Haryana, said it was a "social and religious matter and there was no politics in it".
Jagdish Singh Jhinda, president of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee along with about hundred Sikh leaders from all over the state, submitted 1.5 lakh affidavits, supporting the setting up of a separate SGPC, to Chatha.
The Minister said that due consideration will be given to all the affidavits after their perusal. He assured the delegation that the interests of the community would be protected at all costs.
Jhinda said already two lakh affidavits had been sent to Chatha committee, as September 9 was the last date for submission. He said had there been more time, nine lakh Sikhs could have submitted the affidavits for the formation of a separate SGPC for Haryana.

A meeting held by Mr. Ahrwaan an SGPC member and protégés of Mr Badal held at the 10th Patshahi Gurdwara at SIRSA, said that Sikhs of Haryana at no cost will allow the Government to form a separate Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee for Haryana.
He said that SGPC had opposed the Haryana government's proposal to set up separate committee for managing affairs of Sikh shrines.
Mr. Ahrwaan quoting Mr Avtaar Singh Makker president SGPC said that Shiromani Gurdawara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) had warned Haryana Government against its move to set up separate Gurdawara Parbhandak Committee for Haryana. Mr. Ahrwaan said that SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar along with other members of the committee had also submitted a memorandum to the Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
