Blood should be waiting for the patient instead of patient waiting for the blood. - YS Khyalia Deputy Commissioner SIRSA
Nayaa Saal Nayaa Savera two-day workshop for training of blood donor motivators and blood-camp held at CMK College Auditorium.
Thousands of delegates from all over Haryana participated in the workshop organized by the Haryana State Blood Transfusion Council (HSBTC), Shiv Shakti Rakta Datta Samiti, Sirsa, Indian Red Cross Society, Indian Society of Blood Transfusion, Indian Medical Association and half a dozen of other organizations.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Sirsa, Yudhbir Singh Khyalia, said that today the few seated on the dais in this function are not VIPs, in fact all who are present here are VIPs, as all of us are connected to the noblest cause of blood donation and motivation for blood donation, in one way or the other, so no one is less important than any other.
Apart from Mr. Khyalia, Dr. Jasjeet Kaur, Deputy Director Blood safety Haryana & Dr. Ved Beniwal founder chairman Shiv Shakti Rakt Data Samiti were the keynote speakers at the morning session of the two day workshop.
Dr Beniwal said that the aim of workshop is to motivate new blood donors in a scientific way, he said that he is connected to rural India and he is aware that it is not easy to break the barrier between a non-donor and a donor, but once this hurdle is over the donor also becomes a successful motivator, as he is well connected to his community and society at all levels. He said blood from voluntary & regular blood donors collected by blood banks was considered to be the safest blood for transfusion as it comes from persons, who are regularly tested for various communicable diseases and the risk of window period where infections can escape the testing are minimized. He mentioned that Shiv Shakti Blood Bank in Sirsa can boast of state of the art facilities and is ably manned by ever hardworking Dr. RM Arora.
Dr Jasjeet Kaur said, “Though overall there may not much gap between demand and supply of blood in Haryana but this is not evenly distributed, like Sirsa which boasts of even making it to the Guinness Book of World record of holding largest no of Donors at a blood donation camp in a single day, we need to make blood donation available evenly at all places so that in an emergency sufficient quantity of safe blood is available as close as possible to the needy.” ‘Nayaa saal Nayaa Savera’ mission from 1st January 2010 shall be an effort to meet the above goal” she added.
