66 % VOTING IN SIRSA CONSTITUENCY. POLLING in the Sirsa Assembly constituency started at a very sluggish rate early in the morning but picked up a little after about 10am and till 1PM about 40 to 45% polling had taken place in the town booths and also in the 31 villages of the constituency. Except some sporadic minor incidents of verbal duels between the supporters no major incident was reported from any where in the constituency. At booth No. 34 in the town there was an angry exchange of words between the supporters of INLD workers and an Independent candidate Gopal Kanda over vote No.525 of a deceased person which was got polled by a fictitious person and the polling remained suspended for about 20 minutes but timely intervention of the security forces averted an awkward situation. The polling officer was consequently changed and soon the polling process restarted. A vehicle belonging to some independent candidate was impounded from which a .32 bore gun and 2 live cartridges along with some lathis was spotted from near the booth no. 76 in village Khwaja Khera on the outskirts of the town and a criminal case against some unknown people was registered by the Sirsa Sadar Police station. With the passage of time the polling gained momentum and a polling of 66 % was reported at the end of the election time.
