Thanks Giving An
expression of spoken or written acknowledgement of gratitude conveyed as
regards for the assistance provided by someone. It may also be any kind of
gesture influenced through culture or tradition of a society. There are
certain persons who deserve appreciation and thanks when they give in totality
and whole heartedly so as to extend help without barriers and expectations. It
may relieve the burden owned by someone due to help received.
Let
us be grateful to the people who make us happy. They act as charming gardeners
who make our souls blossom. We should cultivate the habit of being grateful for
every good thing that comes to us for our advancement and convey thanks without
break. It is used in exclamation of relief. Thus gesture of gratitude is a step
toward achieving bigger and better during current situations. More so, ‘Thank
you’ is the best prayer to Almighty God that anyone could say.
Thanks-
giving elaborates the concept of gratefulness, gratitude, appreciation,
recognition, benediction, blessings, grace, praise and mercy. The opposite
notions suggest condemnation, criticism, dis-approval and ungrateful nature.
The
word ‘Thanks’ has its origin from the word ‘Thancian’ of old English and ‘Thanc
or Thancon’ of middle English. These words convey the expression of thanks. The
German word ’Danken’ means give thanks to God for blessings.
Certain Phrases to express thanks:
Thanks a lot; That is very kind of you;
How kind you are to help me; Many-many thanks for your assistance in my
project; Thanks for your guidance and support; I am eternally grateful for
everything you have done for me; Thanks for your kind appreciation; Thanks for
coming here to help me. In the modern days, thanks are also expressed through
twitter, e-mail, face book comments, whats-up etc (through internet).
Response of Thanks Giving
The person who conveys thanks should
also be given due regards (without delay) for the amiable behavior. Certain
phrases are being suggested here:
You are welcome; my pleasure; that is
all right; please mention not; it is nothing; I take it as my responsibility
etc.
Who Deserves Thanks:
First of all we must express our
regards and reverence to the Almighty God who is the creator of universe and
sole benefactor. We should develop habit and attitude of regular meditation
(with faithful submission) to convey our thanks because His kind benevolence is
everlasting. We cherish the wonderful life. Our ability to achieve spiritual success
is entirely up to us, saying thanks to God. Our spiritual guide deserves
gratefulness because he is the true messenger of the Divine Power and blesses
us with method of meditation.
Then our family has great contribution
of giving us many things of our necessity, choice and desire. “I am what I
should be, therefore, thanks to my mother, father, brothers, sisters,
wife\husband and children. We should be grateful to elders, relatives, and
friends, persons associated at work-place and others in the society for their
helpful performances, results and contributions.
Our teachers, ascetics, eminent
philosophers and patriots deserve appreciation because they guide and motivate
us to acquire noble qualities. People, who invite you for special functions and
congratulation or best wishes for birthday, anniversary, success etc., also
deserve our regards and thanks. We should focus on fellow beings to appreciate
their love and generosity. Let thanks giving be a daily event to all those who
make us happy and progressive.
Benefits of Conveying Thanks:
Multifarious advantages of expressing
gratitude act as favor, service, courtesy and boundless gift for human body and
soul.
- Appreciation is not only the greatest virtue
but parent of all. It is the most exquisite form of courtesy,
- Gratitude unlocks fullness of life. It turns
what we have to sufficiency, denial to acceptance, chaos to order,
confusion to clarity, meals to feast and even stranger to friend.
- Thank you, expresses extreme humility and
understanding.
- Saying ‘Thank you’ is more than good manners.
It reflects a sense of spirituality.
- We should never forget that the high
appreciation is not only to utter words but to live by them.
- Thanks giving depict your capability to overpower
your pride, ego, criticism and condemnation. It also shows your noble
qualities of humility, honesty, forgiveness and contentment.
- Righteous thoughts help to inspire for good
habits, strong character, and amiable behavior. We develop motivation for
extending manual, financial and moral help to the needy.
- Achieve greatness to think humble.
- Perhaps the worst enemy we have is not devil
but our own tongue. With our words we can enter the spirit of heaven or
agonies of hell. The moments we become grateful, we actually begin to
ascend spiritually into the visualization of God.
Celebration of Thanks Giving Day :
A special day is celebrated in many
European countries, United States of America and Canada. It started since the
year 1620, as a sacred day of fasting and thanks to the Divine Lord. It is
recognized to command His tender care of all human beings even during distress.
The national holiday is celebrated in Canada on 2nd Monday of October and 4th Thursday of November in USA as a root
in secular, religious and cultural tradition. It now centers on cooking and
sharing a bountiful meal with family and friends. Volunteering is a common
‘Thanks giving’ activity. Communities often hold food drives and host free
dinner for less fortunate’s.
It is sincerely wished that ‘Thanks
giving day’ be commemorated by each society to acquire the noble quality of
humility and social service.
