Watch Video: Hundreds of Rice Paddy Farmers from about 25 villages assembled at Vinayak Resort opposite Baba Bhuman Shah Gurdwara Village Mangala on 21st October 2018. They discussed the Ban order on Stubble Burning.
The farmers discussed the implications of the NGT Order for not burning Agriculture Stubble after harvesting, compliance of which is to be executed by Haryana Government through District Administration. Farmers said that they are aware of the environment more than anyone else, and in fact, they protect it more than damaging it. But this order of NGT is impractical from every aspect, neither the State and Central Governments have done anything to compensate the farmer in lieu of extra expenditure to be incurred on In Situ management of Stubble and for the crop yield losses that are feared to occur in the next wheat crop due to delayed sowing owing to In-Situ process. Nor the New expensive machines, mulchers, choppers, Happy Seeders etc. suggested and being forced upon the farmers are economically viable; moreover, these machines are not effective even in proper stubble management even upon heavy running cost. The farmers resolved that either the Administration should come forward with a workable solution otherwise the farmers will have no option left and will go for Stubble Burning to clear the fields for the sowing of wheat, whatever consequences they have to face.
