AIYF National Seminar Commences

13th ALL India Youth Federation National conference was inaugurated today on 28th March, 2007 by Mr. A.B. Bardhan National Secretary, CPI at SIRSA. The conference shall conclude on 31st March, 2007.

Scores of delegates from all over India, as well from Sri Lanka, Cuba, China, Bangladesh, Greece, Nepal etc. arrived at Sirsa to attend conferences and cultural events that continued till 31st of March, to commemorate ‘Shaheed-A_Azam’ Bhagat Singh’s Birth centenary.

Secretary AIYF, Comrade Amarjeet Kaur, Comrade Ragubir Chaudahry, Mr. ML Sehgal, Comrade Swarn Singh Wirk District Secreaty CPI, and Dr. Harnam Singh Ex MLA Haryana addressed the Anaj Mandi Conference.

Addressing the mammoth gathering under the Grain Market sheds, Mr. Bardhan exhorted the youth of the country to transform India into a country of the dreams of Bhagat Singh aho made supreme sacrifice for the country. Bashing the USA Mr. Bardhan said that once it was said that the sun never set in the British Empire, now the USA is also working for such a dream by spreading its business operations all over the world at the cost of local businesses & industry. He warned that we should wake up to the ill designs of the USA and not let it eat up our own industry businesses especially the one that is in Public sector, as the intention of the USA is to earn money in the name of providing job opportunities to other developing nations. In the long run this shall hamper our personal identity and even in democracy shall make us economic slave to developed nations.

SIRSA JOURNALISTS today interacted and posed questions to Mr. Phool Chand Mullana education minister Haryana in an SIT node of Edusat at Government Senior Secondary Model School, Anaj Mandi Sirsa. By the time turn of Sirsa came up on the Edusat session Mr. RS Gujaral, financial commissioner education department was answering questions on behalf of the minister.

At the interactive session Mr Satish Mehra, DPRO, Mrs. Sheela Bhakar DEO, Mr. Mittarsain Malhotra, ADEO. Mr. Harbhajan Singh Dhanju Principal, Mr. Hamender Singh Distt. Nodal Officer, Edusat, local print and electronic media journalists were present.

To a question raised by Mr. Amar Singh of DD News about large number of drop outs form schools, Mr. Gujral said that it was a national phenomenon and governments are working to improve the situation. He said that the newly introduced semester exam system shall improve the situation.

Mr Gujral also admitted that at many places due to shortage of power supply edusat systems od education may get affected some time but elaborate arrangements for power back up (UPS) have been provided every where that can run the Edusat sat for more than 4 hours.

SIRSA NEWS had posed to Mr. Gujral that why an interim, cost effective and technically stable step of providing Multimedia Computers and Multimedia Educational CD-ROMS had been comfortably skipped, and a giant leap from black board to Satelite technology education has been taken? (Knowing well that the technology is still fragile to handle at all places, today’s erratic functioning of Edusat was a tell tale story!) Before answering this query Mr. Gujral switched to another district.

Answering question about increasing number of molestation of girl students, Mr. Gujaral assured that government is very serious about such happenings and sternest action shall be taken in any such cases. There is plan to appoint teachers of age 50 and above in Girls Schools.

Addressing the first-ever tele-conference on the network from the DIET Building, Sector 2, Minister of Education Haryana Mr. Phool Chand Mullana said the biggest ever initiative in the country would help in providing quality teaching to students in every corner of the state. Primary classes would be given lessons in English and mathematics.

Announcing that students of senior secondary schools and final year of
colleges had begun benefiting from the programme, he stated that the AIEEE classes for science students of Class XII had elicited tremendous response. "Our motto is to provide uniform and quality education across the board and EDUSAT is our key to this," he said.

Mullana announced that a subsidy of Rs 1 lakh would be provided to government aided recognised colleges if they want to connect with the EDUSAT system while private schools would only require to install a direct-to-home dish and could get transmission. "We are not going to charge any fee for that," he remarked. In response to a question, the minister said the curriculum material in both Hindi and English for primary classes and arts stream senior secondary school students was being prepared. The department will confine the transmission to four days while leaving one day for practicals and Saturdays for the teacher to recapitulate the entire week's lesson for the students.

Meanwhile, in the interaction with district correspondents across the state, a reporter from Gurgaon asked the minister to explain how students would benefit from the programme if the connectivity problem continues.

Haryana education minister Phool Chand Mullana today had first hand experience of the hiccups in the smooth implementation of Haryana's ambitious EDUSAT programme. In a session plagued with problems of connectivity, unclear transmission and poor sound quality, the minister announced that all government primary and senior secondary schools would be connected through the EDUSAT network by the end of May this year.

A SEMINAR was organized by SAHARA WELFARE CLUB (Kalanwali) at Gurdwara Sahib Tilokewala for generating awareness amongst masses against Female Foeticide and against use of Narcotics.

WOMEN’S WING of Government National College was started today at the old Tehsil Complex today. The new Wing was inaugurated by performing a Havan in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mr. V. Umashankar, Principal Mr. Umed Singh Bhakar, Prof Dr. Suman Gulab Prof. Y.P. Gupta etc. many girl students were also present. This wing shall intake about 300 girl students in Science and commerce stream from the next academic session. The DC ordered shifting of revenue record lying in some of the rooms of the old Tehsil, elsewhere.

A PUBLIC Awareness March against theft of power was taken out in the shape of a procession by students wearing DHBVNL t-shirts. The Jan Chetna Rally was flagged off by the Mr. V. Umashankar, Deputy Commissioner, Sirsa. He said that power theft was serious crime and measures taken by DHBVNL like installing the energy meters outside the premises of the consumers has brought positive effect and the revenue of the department has been steadily increasing since then.

A STATE level conference on Security of Women, Contemporary Justice System, and another important subject ‘From Minorityism to Nationalism’ was held at Lal Somnath Auditoriuam at CMK National College Sirsa yesterday. Speaking at the seminar, Ms. Nafisa Hussain Ex Chairperson of National Commission for Women, said that many a women do not seek legal help because the process of delivering justice unduly takes a very long time, speaking to Sirsa News she said that she favored setting up of fast courts for crime and atrocities against women at district level so that more and more women sufferers may avail legal protection.

Her tenure as a member of the Commission is notable for her work relating to atrocities committed on women, particularly women belonging to the minority communities and the marginalised sections of the society, she is known for the famous Shah Bano case. Justice Ms. Nirmal Yadav (Punjab & Haryana High Court talked in detail about women empowerment and stoppage of female foeticides, she said that at this pace of female foeticide if nothing is done effectively to curb this social crime Girls shall become extinct and like dinosaurs could be seen only in Biological Lab models.

Ms. Kumud R. Bansal exhorted lawyer’s fraternity by saying that apart from pursuing our legal careers let us all also behave like legal friends to our society. This shall help people to reach the legal system without inhibitions.

A book titled ‘Glimpses of Reality’ by Mr. C.R Kaswan retd. DIG Police was released at the seminar. Another commemorative magazine of the Adhivakta Parishad was also released at the function.

IG Police (Hisar Range) Mr. Yashpal Singhal IPS inaugurated first Traffic Police Station cum ‘Challaning’ Branch at Hisar Road SIRSA.

The Police Station has been manned by Mr. Manoj Verma SI who has been instrumental in carrying out the instructions of SP Mr. Vikas Arora in last few months in the process of improvement of enforcement of traffic rules in Sirsa.

Mr. Yashpal Singhal IG (Hisar Range) speaking on the occasion said that citizens should adopt and follow traffic rules on their own will and the police does not want to force it on the people instead the Police wants to educate the people about the necessity to follow traffic rules for their own safety as well the safety of fellow citizens. Mr. Singhal exhorted the press the social organizations and the police to reach out to towns, villages, schools and colleges to impart traffic rules education for safer roads. He advised to parents that they should dissuade themselves from allowing their wards to drive for their safety.

SP Sirsa Mr. Vikas Arora said that the fully computerized ‘challaning’ branch shall keep a data base of traffic offenders, a habitual offender who is challaned more than three times name shall be recommended for cancellation oh his or her driving license. This PS has also a Multimedia Traffic Rules education section, an educative video, and Power Point Presentation shall be compulsorily be shown to every traffic rules offender who comes here for compounding his offence. This shall help the offender to know about what is desired of him on the road. Every one else can also visit the Traffic Police Station to see the video. He also welcomed the citizens and press and media persons to enroll them selves as Traffic Marshal at this Police Station. Once enrolled the traffic marshal can witness the procedure of booking the traffic offenders, and the marshal can also help in imparting education to fellow citizens.

Mr. Heera Lal Sharma, Mr. Anand Biyani & Mr. Ved Goyal also spoke on the occasion. Mr V. Umashankar Deputy Commissioner, Sirsa, Mr. Shivcharn DSP, Mr. Phool Chand DSP and many from the city and the press were also present at the opening ceremony.
