A STATE level conference on Security of Women, Contemporary Justice System, and another important subject ‘From Minorityism to Nationalism’ was held at Lal Somnath Auditoriuam at CMK National College Sirsa yesterday. The Conference was jointly organized by Lal Hansraj Phutela College of Law & Adhivakta Parishad Haryana.

Speaking at the seminar, Ms. Nafisa Hussain Ex Chairperson of National Commission for Women, said that many a women do not seek legal help because the process of delivering justice unduly takes a very long time, speaking to Sirsa News she said that she favored setting up of fast courts for crime and atrocities against women at district level so that more and more women sufferers may avail legal protection.


[Born in 1948 in Madya Pardesh, A social activist, Ms. Hussain has been working for women's upliftment for the past two decades. Her tenure as a member of the Commission is notable for her work relating to atrocities committed on women, particularly women belonging to the minority communities and the marginalised sections of the society, she is known for the famous Shah Bano case. The National Commission for Women is the apex national level organization of India with the mandate of protecting and promoting the interests of women. http://ncw.nic.in/brief_history.htm ]

Justice Ms. Nirmal Yadav (Punjab & Haryana High Court talked in detail about women empowerment and stoppage of female foeticides, she said that at this pace of female foeticide if nothing is done effectively to curb this social crime Girls shall become extinct and like dinosaurs could be seen only in Biological Lab models.

Ms. Kumud R. Bansal exhorted lawyer’s fraternity by saying that apart from pursuing our legal careers let us all also behave like legal friends to our society. This shall help people to reach the legal system without inhibitions.

A book titled ‘Glimpses of Reality’ by Mr. C.R Kaswan retd. DIG Police was released at the seminar. Another commemorative magazine of the Adhivakta Parishad was also released at the function.

Mr. Satpal Jain Ex. MP, Padmashree Muzaffar Hussain, Mr. Raj Kumar Makker, Mr. Suryakrishan also spoke on the seminar.
