The Revolution of 1857, which the British dubbed as mutiny against the ‘Raj’ was showcased in a two day exhibition, organized by Haryana Archeology Department, District administration, Department of Public Relations Haryana, and various social bodies at Bansal Palace Sirsa. Deputy Commissioner Mr. V. Umashankar inaugurated the exhibition. He took keen interest in all the displayed historical pictures and government documents that dated back to the 1857 events. Mr. R.K. Srivastava Assistant Director Haryana Archeology Department Hisar (see Video) threw historical light on the displayed pictures, sketches, maps and Government documents. The exhibition was thronged by visitors from all walks of life, school and college students etc. Mr. V. Umashanker said that it was important to know about the heroes who laid their lives and sacrificed every thing for the cause of the country. He recalled Raja Nahar Singh who was the ruler of the state of Ballabhgarh (now part of Faridabad). He mentioned that Raja Nahar Singh was a strong supporter of Hindu-Muslim unity to fight the British. Mr. Umashankar (see Video) said that the unity amongst various Indian cultures, groups, religions, factions, regions etc. was single most important factor in waging a successful war against the alien rule.

Comrade Baldev Bakshi, a veteran freedom fighter also gave an account of the events and the events that followed the 1857 Rebellion against the British Rule. Mr. Baldev Bakshi (See Video) said that the fact is that, this part of the region that is now Haryana had many more martyrs during the rebellion then the rest of Punjab.
SDM Mr. Harish Bhatia, City Magistrate Mr. Sant Lal Pachar, Mr. Hoshiari Lal Sharma, Distt. Congress Committee president, Mr. Satish Mehra DPRO, etc were present on the opening day.
Before that in the Annual General meeting of LOKPANCHAYAT held in the first week of February, a demand resolution was passed to urge the district administration to build memorials in the memory 0f Nawab of Rania, and Suba Khushal Singh Namdhari of Village Thiraj who were well acclaimed freedom fighters of Sirsa of during 1857 revolution.
