Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists who were later joined by Shiv Sainiks as well, burned Valentine Day greeting cards near Subhash Chowk and demanded ban of such celebrations on The valentine day, brandishing the day as a commercially driven event by some Greedy Greeting Cards and Gift manufacturing foreign companies the leaders said that there is no historical background to this festival, and to generate revenue by means of selling their products in the name of Love and Valentine day these companies were polluting the Indian Culture.

Sunil Bamnia, Suresh Wats Bharti, Narayan Singh Pal, Hariram Kandoi, Janak Raj Sherpura, Dheeraj Soni, Rahul Tank, Anjani Goyal, Gaurav Verma, Jaiparkash Singla, Brijmohan Sharma etc addressed the gathering and took out a procession from Nehru Park to Subhash Chowk before burning the Greetings. The leaders said our youth should make Kalpana Chawla, Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chander Bose as their role models.
