Dr. Kuldeep Singh Dhindsa, DG JCDV was conferred Rajiv Gandhi Rashtriya Ekta Samman in New Delhi recently instituted by National Unity Conference (NUC). The award was presented to the noted ''secularist'' during a national conference on 'Communal Harmony' held in Delhi on August 19th. The conference was organised to mark the 66th birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Winner of several awards, Dr Dhindsa was earlier felicitated with Shikhsa Ratna Award and Bharat Gaurav Award last year for his contribution in the field of education and social work. According to a communique from the National Unity Conference, the award was given to Dr Dhindsa in recognition of his commitment to secularism. The NUC is headed by former Union Minister Vasant Sathe.
Prof Dhindsa has authored over 170 original research publications and has presented parts of his findings in six international conferences. He was awarded Fulbright Scholarship in 1990 and the same year he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London. A social activist and a staunch votary of farmers and downtrodden, Dr Dhindsa was honoured with Dr Ambedkar National Sevaashri Award in 1996 for his distinguished services to science and society. In 2008, Dayanand Brahma Mahavidyalaya felicitated him with the title of 'Vigyan Ratna.'.
