COMPLETE BAND IN SIRSA, EVEN SHOP OF DISTRICT CONGRESS PRESIDENT FOUND CLOSED.

THE INLD’s call for a complete band in the Sirsa evoked a massive responsive and all the shops and business premises remained closed today. Even the shop of Hoshiari Lal Sharma the president of the Sirsa district Congress Committee situated in the local Rori Bazar was also found closed. The office cum shop belonging to the local MLA and State Home Minister situated in the Hissaria Bazar remained open and throughout remained the focus of attention as a huge police force was deployed in the vicinity to ward off any untoward incident. The whole town was converted into a police cantonment and heavy police force was ubiquitous everywhere in the town including the lanes and by-lanes. Since early in the morning workers and leaders of the INLD fanned out in every nook and corner of the town to appeal the shopkeepers to keep their shutters down. Some minor skirmishes between the workers of Congress and the INLD were reported and timely intervention of the police averted the incidents to snowball into an ugly situation. All the schools, banks and other public utilities remained open. Vehicular traffic on roads remained unaffected. Only doctors and chemists were exempt from the bandh call. Mr Gopal Kanda when contacted asserted that the INLD had brought Goonda and anti-social elements from Rajasthan who indulged in coercive methods to compel the shopkeepers to close their shops and establishments. Similar views were expressed by Gobind Kanda a Congress leader and younger brother of Gopal Kanda. Reports of complete bandh were also received from Ellenabad, Dabawali, Kalanwali and Ellenbad towns as well.
