Rain Rain Go Away
Mixed Bag of Joy & Sorrow.
The rains that started last week were stated to be useful to the late sown varieties of wheat thus benefiting majority of farmers in Sirsa more so as the district was facing power shortage through out winter. But even the first few showers of last week, flattened the best of wheat crop that is the early sown varieties. The wheat was already facing the brunt of unusual February high temperature. A soft drizzle was welcome as it cooled the High March temperatures, but the drizzle followed by wind flattened the high yielding varieties.Even tonight it was thunders all night with showers all over the district at different time. Farmers also fear a possible hailstorm, as it is a phenomenon that occurs more often with March rains.
