Fr. Marden Periera’s golden jubilee of priest hood

A ceremony & a cultural program to commemorate the Golden Jubillee of Priest hood of Fr. Marden Periera were held at St. Xavier’s School SIRSA (Click on school name to know about the School) today in the evening. After the religious ceremonies at the church, The veteran preiest cut a cake on the stage flanked by Fr Franklin. Fr. Menino Gomes. There after participants form different educational institutes run by the Pilar society gave half a dozen short song and dance items. Fr. Mathias surprisingly enthralled the audience by beautifully playing an old Hindi hit on his mouth Organ.

Speaking about Fr. Marden, Fr. Squiera Said that he had been in touch with Fr. Marden since 1953, even before he was ordained. At that time Fr. Marden was the prefect and was doing his studies. He was ordained on March 7th 1957. Fr. Squiera said that since then he has been on the run, not staying at one place for long. He was first appointed as boarding director at Angel Hostel Sanvordem. He was and still is a keen footballer.

He worked for Jacob Circle Bombay, along with Fr. Anslem D’sa. He did not mind the inclement weather of Punajb & Haryana and braved to move about all the time. In 1980 Fr. Marden rose to become mission Superior, in 1994 and then in 1995, he was deputed for spade work at Talwandi Sabo and Mansa respectively with residence at Sirsa. In 1982, he was sent as director to the Miracles High School Hostel Sanguem. Again he returned to Jagat Jyoti school at Rania. In 1985 he became local superior of Dabwali.

Fr. Marden was always been obedient to the will of his superiors. Trur to the words of the master, he seeks first the kingdom of the God, and the rest of has been added to him.

One thing that is unique about had to be highlighted by Fr. Marden himself in his speech, he is loved by not just the Christian community but by one and all who ever came in contact with him where ever. He is particular in maintaining & reinforcing contacts with all the people he had some association.
