Dr Amit Wasil’s Eye Hospital and Research Center was inaugurated today by Chief Guest, Dr Narendra Chaudhary CMO Sirsa, Mr Baljit Singh Reporter Haryana News and State Gen. Secretary Haryana Union of Journalists, Haryana was the guest of honor.

Dr. Amit Wasil MS after rendering his services at Baba Bihari Charitable Eye Hospital Sirsa for more than a couple of years has started this new venture. Mild mannered soft spoken Dr Amit was very popular during his tenure at Baba Bihari, Dr Amit has also worked as consultant with Venu Eye Institute New Delhi, from today onwards he shall be seeing the patients at this newly established institute. Dr Amit who is a retina specialist, said in an interview to Sirsa News that retinal diseases are common than what is presumed but in the absence of a retinal specialist these go unnoticed, he said that even newly borns have sometimes underdeveloped retinas that needs immediate attention and intervention by a retina specialist, he mentioned that diabetic patients are more prone to retinal diseases, and they should make it a point get their retina exams done at regular periods, these facilities shall now be available at this Eye Hospital.

Mr Nitin Wasil of HSBC Bank, Dr. Preety Wasil, Ginia Sharma, Sunit Wasil, Ashish Sharma welcomed the guests. Apart from Chief Guest and the Guest of honor, Mr Parveen Bagla, President Sirsa Education Society, Dr RS Sangwan, Dr P. Dayal, Mr. Gulshan Grover, Mr, Kedar Pahwa, Mr Lalit Mohan Jain of Jaidev Sehdev trust and several dignitaries from the city attended the opening ceremony.

Later Dr Amit informed the media in detail about the symptoms of a retinal disorder?

He said that the symptoms of a retinal disorder vary widely from patient to patient, depending on the type of disorder, whether it is degenerative, where in the retina it originates, and whether it affects the rod or cone cells or both. Generally speaking, children and adults with a retinal disorder may experience any of the following symptoms:

Poor vision at night (night blindness) and trouble adjusting from brightly lit areas to dim ones; Sudden or unexplained loss of vision; Loss of peripheral vision; Loss of vision in a particular visual field; Photophobia, an abnormal sensitivity to or intolerance of light. He also informed about what causes a retinal disorder, In children he said that Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is a condition that occurs in premature infants, which results in problems with blood vessels that grow out of control along the retina. Some retinal disorders are related to illness, such as diabetes, while others can be caused by medications, such as seizure medications or chemotherapy which can have a toxic effect on the retina. Dr Amit’s reassuring nature is loved by his patients.
