Urgent Repair of SGC Demanded by LOKPANCHAYAT

Monthly meeting of LOKPANCHAYAT a registered social body of Sirsa was held yesterday at Sri Jeevan Nagar College. The meeting was presided over by Gurjeet Singh Mann. Some disputes related to property and pecuniary matters of the disputing parties were settled today by the LOKPANCHAYAT.

The resolutions for following demands from the Government were passed at the meeting:

Urgent repair of Southeren Ghagger Canal (SGC) and reinforcement of its three banks, the demand was raised before Superintending Engineer (SE) Irrigation SIRSA through representative of LOKPANCAHYAT on 2nd July, 2009. The canal is breached at more than 4 places this time. Farmers have great resentment about these repeated breaches in last several months. The Superintending Engineer informed that the repair work is already in progress and assured that the canal shall be set right very soon.

Demand for De-silting of Northern Ghagger Canal (NGC) and ensuring of its water to reach its tail end. (Note: SGC and NGC off shoot from Ch Devilal Weir Ottu)

Demand for early start of construction work of 33KV Power Sub Stations at villages: Kirpal Patti, Budhimaari, Mastan Garh, Haripura, and Bani, and 132 KV power sub station at Vill. Dudhianwali.

Demand for E-disha Kendra at Village Kariwaalaa to be made operational.
The prominent who were present at the meeting were Jaswant Singh Josh President Lokpanchayat, Swarn Singh Wirk, Adv Jarnail Singh Brar, Sardul Singh Kotli, Bali Singh Goraya, Jhinder Singh, Buta Singh Bhudimaari, Charanjit Singh Chanana.
