Pre-monsoon Showers lashed Sirsa in wee hours of 2nd July, bring in much needed respite to life and vegetation of Sirsa after a long long gap. The first shower knocked Sirsa at around 2:30AM and there after till noon there were scanty showers at intervals.

However as per met department reports, monsoon has progressed almost all over India, the left over area is perhaps only Sirsa in Haryana, and some parts of adjoining Rajasthan and Punjab. This means that the real fury of rains may be still, a several days away. While rains are always welcome in the countryside of Sirsa, the people of Sirsa and its shuttle townships always have latent fear of flooding of streets and homes even after an average rainfall. The experience of previous years had been like that, and all the preparedness claims of the administration had always been hoax. Lets hope for better this time.

A monsoon is a seasonal prevailing wind that lasts for several months. The term was first used in English in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and neighboring countries to refer to the big seasonal winds blowing from the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea in the southwest bringing heavy rainfall to the area. In hydrology, monsoon rainfall is also considered to be that which occurs in any region that receives the majority of its rain during a particular season
