The Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh an accused in the well known

Ranjit Singh murder case today appeared in the CBI court at Ambala through video

conferencing here in the local court. Elaborate security arrangement had been made by

the district administration to avert any untoward incident in the wake of unrest amongst the dera followers after a fresh case of murder of a former dera manager Fakir Chand was registered against the dera chief. It may be recalled that after the violence and arson that erupted all of a sudden on Saturday after the registration of a fresh case at various places in the state. The district administration did not want to leave anything on chances and section 144 of CrPC was promulgated. Today the entire route from the dera premises to the court complex was heavily guarded by the local police and para-military forces. But a large number of dera followers violated the prohibitory orders and assembled in a flock outside the court complex. The court proceeding started around 5.15pm as today the statement of Ranjit Singh father, a prime witness in the case would be recorded.
