The sudden provocation followed by rampant rampage allegedly by Dera Sacha Sauda Sirsa followers, probably protesting against filing of Criminal Charges against DSS Chief Baba Gurmeet Singh. The NEWS of a fresh case of murder filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the Dera chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim had a sudden provocation in Haryana Punjab, men with lathees, petrol and other combustible material took to roads, torched and damaged a number of buses and other Public property and Government vehicles and even train bogies. The mobs were quick in acting and there disappearance was even quicker leading to indication of a preplanned operation. In Sirsa more than half of dozen of buses were damaged or torched.

The CBI claims to have found fresh evidence to implicate the Dera chief in the murder of one Faquir Chand, who disappeared in 1991 and whose body has never been found.

Governments of Haryana and Punjab were caught unaware in rampage. As the hand of the Dera Followers became more and more a convincing theory the Dera immediately came into a Damage Control exercise. The Dera Chief and Dera Spokesman Dr Aditya Insaan, categorically denied involvement of Dera or its men in the incidents. Sirsa administration quickly deployed extra police force and called back police personnel and officers who were on HOLI vacations, even the SP Sirsa and Deputy Commissioner who were on leave returned back immediately to take charge of the situation, as the very next day 28th February was the monthly Satsang day of Dera Sacha Sauda. BSF was also pressed into service in anticipation of any fresh trouble on the Satsang day or on the HOLI festival day.

The two crucial days remained peaceful, people enjoyed HOLI, Feb 27th incidents could dim the HOLI Colors and festivities. The public transport system remained crippled even till writing of this report leaving hundreds of commuters stranded.
